Various embodiments of the present invention relate to a method for detecting and controlling a battery status by using a sensor, and an electronic device using the same, the electronic device comprising: a housing; an accommodation part arranged inside the housing and including at least one gas sensor; a battery arranged inside the housing; a memory for storing information, acquired by the at least one gas sensor, on gas leaked from the battery and operation control information of the electronic device; and a processor electrically connected to the memory, wherein the processor is configured to acquire a detection signal of gas leaked from the battery by using the at least one gas sensor, and control the operation of at least a part of the electronic device and/or charging characteristics of the battery when the acquired gas detection signal exceeds a predetermined threshold value, so as to detect, in real time, a gas leakage of the battery occurring because of the exposure of the electronic device to high temperature or heat generation and control the battery status, thereby preventing safety accidents caused by the battery. Other various embodiments in addition to the disclosed various embodiments in the present invention are possible.

Method for detecting and controlling battery status by using sensor, and electronic device using same

An electronic device according to various embodiments of the present invention may comprise: a housing including a hole formed therethrough; an earphone jack built in the housing such that an earphone plug is received therein through the hole; a gas sensor integrally formed with the earphone jack; a memory positioned inside the housing; and a processor positioned inside the housing and electrically connected with the earphone jack, the gas sensor, and the memory, wherein the memory stores instructions by which, when executed, the processor: controls the gas sensor to obtain data related to a specific component of the outside air; and causes the gas sensor to calculate a cleanliness level of the outside air on the basis of at least one of data obtained before a predetermined measurement disturbance element is generated and data obtained after the measurement disturbance element is removed. Other various embodiments are also possible.

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a display disposed toward a first surface, a housing including an opening formed toward a second surface, a tray including a hole formed toward the second surface, a sensor module that is able to be seated on the tray, a connector disposed adjacent to the opening inside the electronic device to receive the tray and the sensor module, and a processor configured to control the sensor module when the sensor module is inserted into the connector. The sensor module includes a gas sensor, a sensor chamber, and a pipe forming a path allowing gas, which is introduced through the hole, to move into the sensor chamber.
