A method for selecting a display characteristic for a video annotation notification on a destination display device interconnected across a communications network to at least one source device that generates a video annotation includes receiving, determining, and selecting. An annotated video content is received from the at least one source device, wherein the annotated video content is associated with a source position in a video production hierarchy. A destination position is determined in the video production hierarchy for video content displayed on the destination display device. A correspondence is determined between the determined destination position and the source position associated with the annotated video content to define a relevance value. A content complexity value is determined based on the annotated video content. For the destination display device, one or more display characteristics of the video annotation notification is selected based on the relevance value and the determined content complexity value.

Method for presenting notifications when annotations are received from a remote device

A method of synchronizing a plurality of interactive display devices operating in accordance with a shared multi-step video production workflow, and in communication with a video capture device includes assigning a subset of the interactive display devices to a critical device group, with each such interactive display device being adapted to control operating parameters of the capture device. The method determines that each interactive display device in the critical device group has entered a recording step in the workflow and, in response enables a recording function of the video capture device to be activated by at least one of the video capture device and one of the interactive display devices in the critical device group. The method disables at least one user interface control in each of the plurality of interactive display devices in response to an activation of the recording function until the recording function is deactivated.

A method, system and apparatus for applying an annotation to a portion of a video sequence. The method comprises the steps of receiving the video sequence in real-time during capture of the video sequence, monitoring in real-time a plurality of signals associated with the video sequence, and receiving an indication associated with a spatial area of interest of at least one frame during capture of the video sequence. The method further comprises selecting, from the plurality of monitored signals, a temporal portion of one of the plurality of monitored signals for annotation, said selection being based upon at least the spatial area of interest and a temporal variation measure in at least one of the plurality of monitored signals, applying an annotation to a portion of the video sequence corresponding to the selected temporal portion; and storing the annotation in an annotation record associated with the video sequence.

A method of delivering a recommendation is disclosed. A preference rating is received for each of a plurality of electronic devices based on a task to be recommended, each of the preference ratings defining a preference to perform the recommended task on a corresponding one of the electronic devices. A timeliness profile associated with the recommendation is received. The timeliness profile defines relevance of delivering the recommendation over a period of time. One of the electronic devices on which to deliver the recommendation at a particular point in time is selected based on a function of the preference rating of the selected electronic device and the timeliness profile associated with the recommendation at that point in time.

A computer-implementable method of adjusting a control parameter of an image capture device includes detecting, determining, and transmitting. At an interactive display device, a substantially continuous user selection of values of a control parameter of the image capture device is detected from user manipulation of a continuously-variable input control of the interactive display device. A rate of change is determined of the user selected values of the control parameter during user manipulation of the continuously-variable input control. Based upon at least the determined rate of change, it is determined whether to transmit each of the selected values. The selected values are sequentially transmitted to the image capture device, via a communications network, where the selected values are determined to be transmitted. Each of the transmitted values is transmitted as an interim control parameter value, and the transmitted values are adapted to adjust the control parameter of the image capture device.
