Method for manufacturing battery pack

A protection circuit is provided for protecting a secondary battery from overcharging and excessive discharge current by a simple circuit. The protection circuit is provided with a connection terminal (T) for connecting the secondary battery (); a connection terminal (T) for connecting a charging device for charging the secondary battery () and/or a load device driven by a discharge current from the secondary battery (); a bimetal switch (SW) that is provided between the connection terminals (T, T) and turned off in the case of exceeding a specified temperature set beforehand; a heater (R) for heating the bimetal switch (SW); and an integrated circuit (IC) for turning the bimetal switch (SW) off by causing the heater (R) to generate heat if a voltage applied to the connection terminal (T) by the secondary battery () exceeds a preset reference voltage.

Constructing a battery pack by: providing a resin sheet () to cover a release opening () of a safety vent () formed on a sealing plate (); integrating a rechargeable battery () and a circuit substrate () with a primary molding () by filing a resin between the rechargeable battery () and the circuit substrate (); and then forming a secondary molding (). In such constructed battery pack, an ejected gas, at the operation of the safety vent () of the battery pack, is externally released through an interface between the resin and metal.

A schedule recording section () records a user's schedule. A SOC (state-of-charge) optimization planning section () plans the SOC of a rechargeable battery () based on the user's schedule. The planned control target SOC is optimized through a comparison between the continuous charging characteristic of the rechargeable battery () and the length of an operable period or the amount of electric power to be secured at the time of battery-powered operation. For example, a control target SOC is set at a full charge in the proximity of the period during which a battery-powered operation time is expected to be long. A control circuit detects the battery voltage E,of the rechargeable battery, and the terminal voltage E,across the input/output terminals that are connected to the rechargeable battery through a charge/discharge circuit.
