A medical wound closure device for portable and single usage is provided. The device has first and second approximation members supported by a housing, a wound closure mechanism supported for translation within the housing by a translational drive mechanism and configured to insert at least one fastener into tissue to close the wound, and a controller configured to operate the translational drive mechanism to move the wound closure mechanism relative to the housing, and operate the wound closure mechanism to insert the at least one fastener. Automatic suturing mechanisms are provided. A method of closing a wound using a device is also provided.

System, apparatus, and method for wound closure

An implantable system for delivering fluids, such as drugs, to one or more anatomical structures in a patient's (i.e., human or animal) body. A number of medical conditions require continual and/or periodic administration of fluids (e.g., drugs) to target regions (e.g., anatomic organs) of the body. Accessibility to those target regions might be limited technically for ex. and not limited to: frequent endoscopic, radiologically guided or surgical approaches. The system delivers the fluid needed in a continual or intermittent fashion to the target region. It controls the amount of fluid delivered to the target region and measures the intended physiologic effect of the fluid delivered.

Implantable fluid delivery system

It is known that fluids, for example, drugs, may be administered via a syringe. It is further known that in some instances, a second fluid must be administered following the administration of a first fluid in order to flush the first fluid. There are numerous reasons for why such flushing may be required and/or desirable. For example, flushing ensures that a patient has received the entirety of a dose of the first fluid (e.g., a drug), that the first fluid does not mix and/or react with a subsequently administered (third) fluid that may be incompatible with the first fluid, and/or that the infusion lines are clean and/or primed for a subsequent infusion, to cite a few examples. The present invention is a novel syringe design that houses the flushing solution as part of the syringe to streamline the fluid delivery (drug) and the flushing solution subsequently.
