Examples are disclosed that relate to methods and computing devices for determining a distance of an input device from a surface of a computing device. In one example, a method comprises receiving a plurality of input device signals via the input device. A portion of the input device signals are used to determine an effective voltage of the input device. Adjusted input device signals are generated by adjusting another portion of input device signals using the effective voltage of the input device. The method further comprises providing the adjusted input device signals as an input to a distance model, and receiving and outputting the distance of the input device from the surface of the computing device.

Determining a distance to an input device

Broadcasts from beacon devices each of which is disposed in a known different physical location within a venue are controlled. Scheduling information for events scheduled to take place at the venue may be collected from calendar management sources and analyzed. Notification of an emergent event associated with the venue or its geographic location may also be received from emergent event notification sources and analyzed. The result of these analyses and the knowledge of the physical location of each of the beacon devices are used to generate a set of broadcast rules for each of the beacon devices, where these rules specify one or more beacon signals to be periodically broadcast by the beacon device and the timing by which these signals are to be broadcast. For each of the beacon devices, the set of broadcast rules for the beacon device is downloaded to the beacon device.

Event-triggered control of beacon broadcasts

Systems and methods are provided for creating a sample of electronic content for transmission to others. For example, a user may select a portion of an electronic content file to be transmitted as an excerpt file to another user. In some instances, transmission may be prohibited based on various criteria.

Customized content delivery

Systems and methods are provided for delivering content to a consumer and tracking the content consumed. For example, electronic content may be provided to a playback device of a consumer. An indication of the amount of content actually consumed by the consumer may be received, where the amount is determined by tracking the content consumed. A cost of content may be calculated based on the indication of the amount of content consumed.

Systems and methods for customized content delivery are provided. Customized and individualized electronic content over a network are included. The content delivered through content feeds may be specifically tailored to a specific user based numerous criteria including, but not limited to, attributes of a user, usage characteristics, subject matter of previous downloads, subscription details, and targeted advertising. The content provider may track and monitor the download characteristics of individual users and adapt the content delivered in the feeds.

Methods and apparatus for customized content delivery

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a computer system that can transfer a digital information file to a removable media storage. The digital information file can include targeting information, which may include combined descrambling information and information identifying a mobile playback device. The mobile playback device can render the targeted digital information file if the information identifying the mobile playback device included in the targeting information corresponds to an identifier of the mobile playback device, so as to allow the mobile playback device to descramble the targeted digital information file using the descrambling information.
