A method performed in connection with a handheld communication device for monitoring a context in a battery efficient manner and for detecting a vehicular context, the handheld communication device comprising a GPS hardware component, a network-based position estimation component and a data processor, the method comprising: identifying a non-vehicular context; when the non-vehicular context is not identified, powering on the GPS hardware component and acquiring speed data using the GPS hardware component, determining whether the acquired speed is within predetermined vehicular speed ranges and identifying either a vehicular context or the non-vehicular context; when the vehicular context is not identified, powering off the GPS hardware component to save battery power.

A method and system for exporting ultrasound data is provided. The method includes accessing ultrasound data stored within an ultrasound system. The ultrasound data is stored in an ultrasound system readable format. The method further includes converting the ultrasound system readable format data to a user device readable format data for export from the ultrasound system and access via a user device.

Method and apparatus for exporting ultrasound data

A system and method for streaming unprocessed medical image data from a medical imaging system to a remote terminal is provided. A medical imaging system acquires medical image data, generates unprocessed medical image data, and then transmits the unprocessed medical image data to a remote terminal. The remote terminal receives the unprocessed medical image data, processes the data to render a medical image and displays the medical image to an operator at the remote terminal. Additionally, the operator may control imaging parameters at the remoter terminal for use in rendering the medical image. Additionally, the operator may control imaging parameters on the medical imaging system. Also, the operator at the remoter terminal and the operator at the medical imaging system may communicate with each other during the examination through the medical imaging system.

Medical imaging data streaming

An ultrasound system operating on a personal computer architecture comprising multiple processors controlled to operate in parallel to share ultrasound operations of the system. The multiple processors are controlled by software to share the operations associated with system setup, system control, scanning, data acquisition, beamforming, user interface service, signal processing, and scan conversion. The ultrasound system utilizes management software which divides operations associated with each function (such as signal processing and scan conversion) into parallel sub-operations or tasks. Each task is assigned by the operating system to a CPU. Any of the CPUs may be capable of performing any of the tasks. The CPUs operate in parallel to carry out the assigned tasks. Once all of the CPUs have completed the assigned tasks, the system may serially advance to the next ultrasound function.

Ultrasound system with parallel processing architecture

An ultrasound system comprises a front end subsystem and a back end subsystem. The back end subsystem processes data samples representative of the echo signals from the front end subsystem. The back end subsystem includes at least one microprocessor with registers that simultaneously store at least two data samples. The microprocessor performs parallel common arithmetic or logic instructions upon at least two ultrasound data samples in one register. The microprocessor may be configured to scan convert polar data samples to Cartesian pixel values. During scan conversion, one register simultaneously stores multiple polar data samples and another register simultaneously stores coefficients associated with the polar data samples. The microprocessor multiplies corresponding data samples and coefficients, and sums the product of the parallel multiplication operations in order to produce a Cartesian data sample associated with a pixel to be displayed on an image arranged in a Cartesian coordinate pattern. The microprocessor may be configured to perform parallel arithmetic instructions to carry out auto-correlation operations, such as during Color Doppler signal processing. To do so, the registers store simultaneously multiple data samples representative of echo signals received from the same physical point from several transmissions. The registers each store the same data samples except that the data samples are shifted in the registers with respect to one another. During the parallel common arithmetic instructions, the microprocessor multiplies the data samples within the first and second registers and sums the products of the multiplication operations as part of an autocorrelation operation. The microprocessor may be reconfigured to perform blending operations two-dimensional greyscale images (B-mode) and Color Doppler images for a region of interest.
