A liquid transfer device is provided for mixing a medicament additive contained within a vial with an infusion liquid contained within an infusion liquid container to form a medicated infusion liquid. The liquid transfer device includes a trifurcated connector body defining a barrel at a first end thereof, an IV spike at a second end thereof and a vial adapter lumen with a vial adapter secured thereto at a third end thereof. A plunger having an IV port is slidably engaged with the barrel to form a syringe integrated with the device. The syringe enables the device to flush out the flow path between the IV port and the IV spike connected to the medicated infusion liquid, and any residual unmixed medicament additive therein, after combining the medicament additive with the infusion liquid.

The dual sealed lumen arrangement includes a central sealed liquid lumen for gravitational flow of liquid contents from a liquid vial to a drug vial and a sealed air lumen radial outward from the central sealed liquid lumen for venting air displaced from the drug vial to the liquid vial for assisting the gravitational flow of liquid contents by creating a closed system between the liquid vial and the drug vial.

A liquid transfer device is described. The liquid transfer device comprising a vial adapter comprising a puncturing cannula for puncturing an injection vial stopper, an IV spike and a substitute IV port holder for receiving a substitute IV port, and a flow control member port. The IV spike, the substitute IV port holder and the puncturing cannula are in flow communication with the flow control member port. The liquid transfer device comprising a flow control member sealingly inserted in the flow control member port. Rotation of the flow control member between a plurality of positions controls flow communication of the liquid transfer device, the positions comprising a mixing position for enabling flow communication between the IV spike and the puncturing cannula; and an administering position for enabling flow communication between the IV spike and the substitute IV port holder.

User actuated liquid drug transfer devices for use in ready-to-use (RTU) liquid drug transfer assemblages

Fluid transfer devices for filling a drug pump cartridge with liquid drug contents for administration purposes. Fluid transfer device includes a dual open ended barrel partitioned by a transverse partition into a drug vial port for telescopic mounting on a drug vial and an open ended piston cylinder for slidingly receiving a piston head including a drug pump cartridge port for telescopic mounting on a leading cartridge end of a drug pump cartridge. Sliding insertion of the piston head into the piston cylinder to butt against the transverse partition urges air trapped in the compression chamber into the drug vial which in turn urges its liquid drug contents into the vented drug pump cartridge.

Syringe assemblies including a syringe pre-equipped with an integral liquid drug administration device for enabling administration of liquid drug contents and a drug vial adapter for telescopic mounting on a drug vial containing liquid drug contents. In the initial pre-compacted state, the vial adapter telescopically snap fits on an initially non-punctured intact discrete injection vial leaving its injection vial stopper non-punctured. In the final compacted state, the vial adapter punctures the injection vial stopper. The liquid drug transfer device is used with an intact discrete injection vial release tool for applying a pincers-like compression for convenient release of a non-punctured intact discrete injection vial in the initial pre-compacted state. The vial adapter includes a clamping arrangement for irreversibly clamping same in the final compacted state. The vial adapter precludes release of a punctured discrete injection vial in its final compacted state.
