A method for transmitting configuration data for a secure element is provided. The configuration data is generated in a secure element manager and the method comprises, securing the configuration data using a set of Over-The-Air, OTA, keys associated with the secure element, and transmitting the configuration data using a second interface to a second server for transmitting the configuration data over a non-SMS communications channel A communications network corresponding to the method is also provided. A method of receiving configuration data for a secure element at a host device is also provided. The method comprises receiving the configuration data using a data function for receiving configuration data over a non-SMS communications channel, processing the configuration data using a SIM application toolkit, and forwarding the processed configuration data to the secure element. A host device according to the method is also provided.

Managing a secure element

Methods for operating a communications-enabled application, controlling a secure profile via an operating system, and operating a cellular network are provided. Operating a communications-enable application includes detecting a need for data transmission when the mobile device has a communications status which is incompatible with the need and sending a request to activate a secure profile. Controlling the secure profile includes receiving a request from an application to have data session access via a secure profile and activating a data session utilising a secure profile. Operating the cellular network includes receiving a request to establish a cellular network data communications session from a mobile device including the communications-enabled application and establishing a data session with the mobile device using the secure profile. A mobile device and cellular network for performing the methods are also provided.

On-demand network connection

A method is provided which includes receiving location information, performing a selection operation to select an International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) for obtaining temporary bootstrap connectivity, and attempting to register with a network using the selected IMSI. The selection operation is configured to select one of a first plurality of IMSIs in a first location and one of a second, different, plurality of IMSIs in a second location. Each of the first plurality of IMSIs includes a first predetermined value for at least the first portion of each respective IMSI and each of the second plurality of IMSIs includes a second, different, predetermined value for at least the first portion of each respective IMSI. The selection operation comprises a first and second preconfigured selection characteristic. A network access element, host device, and network node, according to the method, are also described.

Network connectivity

There is provided a method, and application server for enabling recording of communications transmitted via an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem Network. A call request is received from a first party to call a second party and a database, comprising a plurality of subscriber profiles, is queried to obtain subscriber configuration data relating to at least one of the first party and the second party. Based on the subscriber configuration data, media streams are caused to be transmitted between the first party and a Media Resource Function, between the second party and the Media Resource Function, and from the Media Resource Function to a recording device to record at least part of a call between the first and second party. A communications network and a user device are also provided.
