A vehicle warning system and method receive an information notification from a first vehicle system at a second vehicle system. The information notification includes traversal information associated with a position of the first vehicle system and/or an identifier associated with the first vehicle system. The information notification also including a warning that indicates of the second vehicle system is moving too close to the first vehicle system and/or the first vehicle system and the second vehicle system are headed toward an intersection. A decision is made as to whether a response should be sent based on the information notification and sending the response based on the information notification to the first vehicle system. The response includes a command to slow down or stop to avoid a collision with the first vehicle system.

Vehicle warning system

A vehicle control system and method receive vehicle makeup information from multiple vehicles in a multi-vehicle system. The vehicle makeup information represents one or more characteristics of the vehicles. The vehicle makeup information is received at a controlling vehicle of the vehicles in the multi-vehicle system that controls movement of the multi-vehicle system. The controlling vehicle also receives locations from location-determining devices respectively onboard the vehicles in the multi-vehicle system. The controlling vehicle controls operation of the multi-vehicle system using a combination of the vehicle makeup information received from the vehicles and the locations of the vehicles.

Vehicle control system

A train-to-train warning system and method for communicating an information notification, may include receiving or sensing, by a head of train computer of a listener train, an information notification originating from an end of train device associated with a first train in a geographic area, identifying the first train based on at least one of the position of the first train or the identifier associated with the first train, determining, one or more events or conditions of the first train in the track network based on the information notification, generating an updated operation of the listener train including one or more actions, the updated operation based on the one or more events or conditions associated with the first train, and controlling a movement of the listener train based on at least one of the one or more actions.

Method for determining location of other trains for PTC purposes

A system that includes a notification light configured to be coupled with a first vehicle and to emit light to notify an approaching, second vehicle of the location of the first vehicle. A controller is provided that includes one or more processors configured to determine one or more of a direction of movement of the first vehicle, a speed of the movement of the first vehicle, or a distance between the first vehicle and the approaching, second vehicle. The controller is configured to notify the approaching, second vehicle of the one or more of the direction of the movement of the first vehicle, the speed of the movement of the first vehicle, or the distance between the first vehicle and the second vehicle by directing the notification light to change a characteristic of the light emitted by the notification light.

Method and system for notifying an operator

A method includes generating PTC data for at least a portion of a track network, the PTC data comprising real-time train data generated by an on-board system of a train traveling in the track network, the real-time train data comprising a train speed and a train location, generating predictive train location data based at least partially on the PTC data, the predictive train location data comprising at least one upcoming location of the train associated with at least one time; and transmitting at least a portion of the predictive train location data to at least one navigation service in response to receiving a request, the request comprising at least one of the following: a route, an intersection, a rail crossing, geographic coordinates, or any combination thereof.
