A hydraulic damper includes a cylinder containing hydraulic liquid therein, a piston working in the cylinder and partitioning the interior of the cylinder into first and second liquid chambers, a piston rod secured to the piston and extending to the outside, and a disc valve mounted on each side of the piston for generating damping force. The disc valve exposed to the first liquid chamber comprises at least three mutually overlapping annular discs. The outer circumference of a first disc which is located contiguous to the piston is easily deflectable, and a second disc which is located contiguous to the first disc has at least one opening, one end of which is communicated permanently with the first liquid chamber. The liquid flow flowing through the opening is intercepted by the outer circumference of the first disc when the piston moves toward the second liquid chamber, and a liquid flow passing through the opening is established due to the deflection of the first disc when the piston moves toward the first liquid chamber, thereby decreasing the damping force.

Hydraulic damper

A damping force generating mechanism in a hydraulic damper includes a housing containing therein oil and an oil chamber partitioning member such as a piston. The mechanism includes a communicating passage provided in the oil chamber partitioning member and defining an annular valve seat on one end thereof and an annular valve plate provided on one end of the communicating passage and being deflectable toward and away from the valve seat for permitting the oil to flow in the communicating passage in one direction. The plate valve consists of a plurality of mutually overlapping annular plates, and at least one of the annular plates is deflected in the direction separating from the valve seat by a projection member which also is one of the annular plates.

Damping force generating mechanism in hydraulic damper

A hydraulic damper includes coaxial inner and outer tubes, a piston working in the inner tube and partitioning the interior thereof into first and second liquid chambers, a piston rod secured to the piston and extending through the first liquid chamber to the outside of the damper through upper ends thereof, a rod guide supporting the upper ends of the inner and outer tubes and slidably guiding the piston rod, a base cap supporting the lower ends of the inner and outer tubes, a reservoir chamber defined between the inner and outer tubes and containing therein liquid and gas, and a bottom valve mechanism mounted on the lower end of the inner tube for controlling liquid flow between the second liquid chamber and the reservoir chamber. The bottom valve mechanism comprises a valve seat mounted on the lower end of the inner tube, a rigid valve body having an orifice passage, a spring biasing the valve body toward the valve seat, and an inverted U-shaped valve guide guiding the movement of the valve body toward and away from to the valve seat.

A hydraulic shock absorber comprises a cylinder, a piston slidably fitted in the cylinder to divide a space in the cylinder into two hydraulic fluid chambers, a piston rod which is secured at its one end to the piston and extended from said one end passing through one of the two fluid chambers, and projecting out of the cylinder while being slidably supported in a rod guide at one end of the cylinder, a damping force generating members mounted on the piston for throttling a flow of hydraulic fluid between the two fluid chambers, a fluid reservoir communicated to an another of the two fluid chambers and a valve mechanism provided in a channel that communicates said another fluid chamber with the fluid reservoir, the valve mechanism comprising a check valve allowing the hydraulic fluid to flow from the fluid reservoir to said another fluid chamber and a plurality of orifices provided at a plurality of positions in the check valve for throttling the flow of the hydraulic fluid from said another fluid chamber to the fluid reservoir.

A hydraulic shock absorber wherein a seal ring is provided between an inner cylinder and a piston rod guide so as to seal the gap between the inner cylinder and the piston rod guide of the hydraulic shock absorber.

Hydraulic shock absorber

A hydraulic shock absorber of the type including a tubular main body having of an inner tube containing oil and slidably receiving a piston and an outer tube surrounding the inner tube to define around the inner tube an annular reservoir chamber containing therein pressurized gas in the upper portion and oil in the lower portion. A rod guide closes the upper end of the inner tube, and a piston rod is secured to the piston and slidably extends through the rod guide and through a seal member closing the upper end of the main body. A spring is disposed between the rod guide and the seal member and acts on the seal member through an annular retainer to urge the seal member against the inner surface of the main body, wherein, there are mounted on the annular retainer an annular valve member having a lip portion for engaging with the rod guide to prevent fluid flow from the upper portion of the reservoir chamber to the interior of the inner tube through a clearance between the rod guide and the piston rod but allowing fluid flow in the opposite direction. An annular valve member is provided having a lip portion engaging with the inner surface of the main body to prevent fluid flow from the interior of the main body to the outside of the main body along the inner surface of the main body but allowing fluid flow in the opposite direction.
