A transfer station for transferring a medical fluid between at least one supply container and at least one administration container of an infusion device is described. In an embodiment, the transfer station comprises at least one supply port configured for fluidic connection of the at least one supply container to the transfer station, and at least one exit port configured for fluidic connection of the at least one administration container to the transfer station. A transfer mechanism for automatically transferring a predetermined amount of medical fluid from the at least one supply container to the at least one administration container, and an electronic processing unit connected to an actuation means are provided with the transfer station. A processing unit controls the transfer mechanism and fluid transfer conditions according to a predetermined transfer demand entered by the actuation means.

A control unit for an electronically controlled pump unit controls the pump unit to infuse insulin into a diabetic's body in a substantially continuous way according to a preset infusion schedule as a function of time. The control unit includes an intervention unit that continuously evaluates a blood-glucose indicative input for detecting an actual or expected hypoglycaemia and executes, in response to an actual or expected hypoglycaemia, a temporary hypoglycaemia intervention. The intervention includes, for an intervention time interval, overriding the preset infusion schedule by temporarily suspending insulin infusion or temporarily reducing insulin infusion below the preset infusion schedule. The intervention unit adapts its way of operation with respect to executing the hypoglycaemia intervention in accordance with a control signal that is separate from the blood-glucose indicative input. The control unit automatically generates the control signal as a function of time and/or based on sensor input.

Devices, systems and methods for determining a recommended bolus dose of therapeutic fluid to be delivered to the body are disclosed. Such a recommended bolus dose may be provided by establishing an initial bolus dose for a user based on one or more first parameters relating to the user and adjusting (e.g., increasing or decreasing) this initial bolus dose amount based on one or more second user parameters by multiplying the initial bolus dose by one or more multiplier values that correlate to at least one of the second parameters and/or by adding or subtracting an absolute value of at least one of the second parameters from the initial bolus dose amount.

The system and the method can also comprise a bolus selection component adapted for selecting a test bolus corresponding to the determined initial set of values and a planned meal. In one implementation, the bolus selection component can receive bolus dose input from a user. In another implementation, the bolus selection component can estimate the bolus dose using a set of available inputs (e.g. the amount of carbohydrates in the planned meal).
