A photon-activated quantum dot capacitor photodetector having a read only integrated circuit; and a photon-activated quantum dot capacitor chip hybridized with the read only integrated circuit, wherein said photon-activated quantum dot capacitor chip comprises colloidal quantum dots that detect photons as a change in a dielectric constant of the colloidal quantum dots of the photon-activated quantum dot capacitor chip, including the further implementation of a photodetector.

Photo-activated quantum dot capacitor photodetectors

Methods and systems for replicating current outputs from a photodetector include using a transimpedance (TIA) amplifier to directly generate a TIA output voltage that is linear with optical power at the photodetector. Additionally, a first logarithmic amplifier is used to generate a first output voltage from the photodetector current and a second logarithmic amplifier is used to generate a second voltage from a copy of the photodetector current. The first voltage and the second voltage may be linear in some cases with the optical power in decibels.

A laser system includes first and second mirrors, a semiconductor laser and a high frequency pulse generator. The semiconductor laser generates optical power within an optical cavity and reflects the optical power between the first mirror and second mirrors. The optical power has a frequency of f. The high frequency pulse generator generates a high frequency pulse with a rise time greater than an optical cycle of the optical power within the optical cavity and directly impinges the high frequency pulse on the optical power within the optical cavity. Impinging the high frequency pulse on the optical power within the optical cavity causes a frequency shift of the optical power to generate a final laser frequency that is greater than fas well as beyond a frequency band of the second mirror to cause a final laser to be emitted past the second mirror and from the semiconductor laser.

Methods and systems for current amplification to improve optical amplifier performance may include equalizing a current level indicative of input optical power to an optical amplifier with a current level indicative of an output optical power level of the optical amplifier. In this manner, a first bandwidth of an input log amp may be matched with a second bandwidth of an output log amp in a gain control loop circuit to improve overall transient gain accuracy of the optical amplifier, irrespective of the input optical power. In this manner, the optical amplifier may be enabled to operate at a defined gain level even in the presence of transients in the input signal.

The gain offset cancelling signal may be output to a gain control module in the optical amplifier to generate at least one of a pump signal and an attenuation control signal. In this manner, a gain offset may be cancelled for a plurality of wavelengths in an optical signal transmitted by an optical network.

A system and method for decontamination of chemical and biological agents over terrain in an outdoor environment is provided that utilizes ultraviolet radiation to break up hydrogen peroxide into radical species that interact with chemical and biological agents to render them harmless. In a preferred embodiment, peroxide is dispersed in a contaminated area and the peroxide is then exposed to ultraviolet radiation that causes the peroxide to dissociate into radical species. The interaction of the radical species formed by the peroxide dissociation with the chemical and biological agents renders them useless.
