A radiotherapy apparatus includes an acceleration unit configured to generate a charged particle beam. A target is configured to generate a radiation when the charged particle beam is irradiated to the target. A sensor is configured to measure an electric current flowing through the target. A dosimeter is configured to measure a dose of the radiation. A control unit is configured to control the acceleration unit based on the measured electric current and the measured dose.

Radiotherapy apparatus and radiation irradiating method

In an acceleration tube conditioning apparatus for performing a conditioning process on an acceleration tube when a high frequency power signal to be supplied to an acceleration tube is generated by a high frequency power supply, a power value collecting section collects a traveling wave power value and a reflection wave power value from a sensor which monitors the traveling wave power signal and the reflection wave power signal. A high frequency calculating section calculates a resonance frequency of the acceleration tube based on the traveling wave power value and the reflection wave power value. A high frequency adjusting section determines a high frequency value based on one of the traveling wave power value and the reflection wave power value as a selection power value, and a high frequency power supply control unit controls the high frequency power supply based on the high frequency value. The high frequency value indicates a constant value when the selection power value is smaller than a predetermined value, and indicates the calculated resonance frequency when the selection power value is larger than the predetermined value.

System with acceleration tube conditioning apparatus and acceleration tube conditioning method

A radiotherapy system includes: a waveguide, an adjustable waveguide, and a non-reciprocal circuit element. The waveguide transmits a high-frequency wave from a high-frequency power source to an acceleration tube. The adjustable waveguide is included in said waveguide and transforms a part of said waveguide. The non-reciprocal circuit element is provided between said acceleration tube and said adjustable waveguide in said waveguide. Said acceleration tube accelerates charged particles for generating therapeutic radiation by using said high-frequency wave.

Radiotherapy system for performing radiotherapy with presice irradiation

A radiation treatment apparatus includes a guide and a support member. The guide moves a radiation generating unit along an orbit with a predetermined radius such that an X-ray emitted from the radiation generating unit may cross an isocenter. The support member rotates the guide about a turning axis passing through the isocenter. The radiation generating unit is moved along a spherical plane by the guide and the support member and applies the X-ray toward the isocenter in multiple directions.

Radiation treatment apparatus

The radiotherapy apparatus in the present invention includes a bed, a radiation irradiating head, head swing mechanisms, a precise inspection unit and a control unit. The bed carries a subject. The radiation irradiating head irradiates a treatment radiation to a treatment field of the subject. The head swing mechanisms, which are coupled to the radiation irradiating head, swings the head of the radiation irradiating head so that the treatment radiation emitted from the radiation irradiating head pursues the motion of the treatment field. The precise inspection unit obtains a diagnosis image containing the treatment field. The control unit controls the positions of the head swing mechanisms so that an irradiation field of the radiation irradiating head pursues the treatment field, based on the diagnosis image, the position of the radiation irradiating head and the state of the swung head. Then, the control unit controls the radiation irradiating head so that the treatment radiation is irradiated from the radiation irradiating head, after the positional control of the head swing mechanisms.

Radiotherapy device

A radiotherapy apparatus comprising an irradiation head having a linear accelerator and an intra-head waveguide unit whose one end portion is electromagnetically connected to the linear accelerator, a supporting moving mechanism which supports and moves the irradiation head on predetermined first spherical coordinates, a microwave oscillator which generates microwaves to be supplied to the irradiation head, and which is placed in a stationary position, a fixed waveguide unit having one end portion electromagnetically connected to the microwave oscillator, and the other end portion positioned on the supporting moving mechanism, and a moving waveguide unit having one end portion electromagnetically connected to the other end portion of the fixed waveguide unit positioned on the supporting moving mechanism.

Radiotherapy apparatus

An electron beam emitted from an electron gun enters into an accelerator 8 through a magnetic lens and is accelerated by a large number of accelerating tube discs within the accelerator, resonance cavities formed thereby and a magnetic field supplied from the outside. Then, it is focused by a focusing magnet and enters into an energy analyzer and scanned by a beam scanner, and is irradiated as a beam onto a sterilization goods item. On the outside of the accelerator there is disposed a cooling jacket for making uniform the thermal expansions of the resonance cavities due to thermal load. Also, by providing frequency adjusting means for adjusting the frequency of an accelerating microwave input through an input coupler and also by the cooling jacket having its thickness gradually increased from the inlet toward the outlet so as to make the thermal expansions of the resonance cavities zero, it becomes possible to make the amount of variation in the acceleration phase zero to thereby enable provision of an accelerator apparatus with large output and high energy density. Furthermore, in the energy analyzer, a particle energy necessary for sterilization is selected by bending magnet energy means and slit and irradiated, with the result that an effective electronic sterilizer apparatus can be realized.

Charged particle accelerator apparatus and electronic sterilizer

A deflection magnetic system and method are provided to deflect an electron beam through a predetermined angle while maintaining a circular cross-section for the electron beam. A plurality of spaced magnetic fields are provided to deflect the electron beam through angles less than the total predetermined angle, but the total angle is achieved when the beam passes through the last magnetic field. Magnetic shields are provided between the spaced magnetic fields to absorb any undesired leakage magnetic flux.

Magnetic beam deflection system and method

A DC or high frequency ion source comprising a hollow cathode and a substantially hollow anode for applying a DC or alternating voltage; a gas inlet disposed at a first side of the cathode for supplying a discharge gas into the cathode; a cathode heater disposed between the anode and the cathode; a magnet disposed adjacent the anode to thereby improve the uniformity of a plasma; an ion extraction outlet disposed at a second side of the cathode opposite to the gas inlet and having an elongated rectangular shape; and an ion extraction electrode and an acceleration electrode for controlling the energy of extracted ions. Both the anode and cathode comprise substantially hollow boxes. The cathode includes an elongated rectangular cross section and is disposed inside the substantially hollow anode. The ion extraction electrode and the acceleration electrode have an elongated rectangular shape and an opening coextensive with the ion extraction outlet. The ion extraction electrode and the acceleration electrode are disposed adjacent, and aligned with, the ion extraction outlet. The ion source can be formed with an arcuate shape to accommodate round objects. The ion source can also be formed integrally with a sputtering device.

DC or HF ion source

A sputtering apparatus including two electrodes, a sputtering target disposed on one of the electrodes, and a gas supply for supplying a discharge gas in a vacuum to produce an electric discharge between the two electrodes and whereby particles sputtered from the target due to impact thereon of ions produced by the discharge, are deposited on a substrate. The target disposed on one electrode is formed into an elongated band and the other electrode is disposed so as to enclose the target. The other electrode is also provided with a magnet for producing a magnetic field thereon, and further includes a narrow elongated slot which defines a narrow sputter particle outlet. The narrow sputter particle outlet permits a pressure to exist near the electrical discharge which is higher than the pressure near the substrate. According to a preferred embodiment, the sputtering apparatus has an ion source combined integrally therewith.
