There is provided a method for cleaning a ceramic filter which can shorten an operation time required to clean the ceramic filter. The method for cleaning the ceramic filter includes: reducing a pressure of a space on a secondary side of the uncleaned ceramic filter, while supplying a cleaning medium to a space on a primary side of the uncleaned ceramic filter, thereby passing the cleaning medium through the ceramic uncleaned filter, so that the uncleaned ceramic filter is cleaned.

Method for cleaning ceramic filter

A simple method of manufacturing a silica membrane which has high separation performance and high permeation flux is provided. The method is a method for manufacturing a silica membrane by depositing a silica sol on a porous substrate, drying the silica sol by air blowing which has a dew point of -70 to 0&#xb0; C., and then firing the same thereafter to produce the silica membrane. Further, the silica sol is preferably dried by air blowing at an air velocity of 5 to 20 m/sec.

Method of manufacturing silica membrane

There are disclosed a ceramic porous membrane formed with less membrane formation times and having less defects, a small and uniform thickness and a high flux, and a ceramic filter. A silica membrane is formed on a titania UF membrane as an ultrafiltration membrane (a UF membrane) formed on a porous base member which is a microfiltration membrane (also referred to as an MF membrane) and having an average pore diameter smaller than that of the porous base member, and the silica membrane has an average pore diameter smaller than that of the titania UF membrane, and does not substantially permeates the titania UF membrane.

Ceramic porous membrane and ceramic filter

There is provided a ceramic filter provided with a ceramic porous membrane having few defects, small and uniform membrane thickness, and high resolution performance. The ceramic filter includes: a porous substrate which is a microfiltration membrane (MF membrane), a titania UF membrane which is an ultrafiltration membrane (UF membrane) formed on the porous substrate and has an average pore size of 2 to 20 nm and an average thickness of 0.1 to 1.0 &#x3bc;m, and a silica membrane which is formed on the titania UF membrane and a ceramic porous membrane a part of which has penetrated into pores of the titania UF membrane or into pores of the UF membrane and the porous substrate.

Ceramic filter

There is disclosed a method of manufacturing a thin and uniform ceramic filter formed with less membrane formation times and having less defects. A ceramic sol whose average pore diameter after the sol itself has been formed into a membrane is larger than that of a ceramic separation membrane and is 10 nm or less is brought into contact with the surface of a ceramic separation membrane having an average pore diameter of 0.5 to 10 nm, and the ceramic separation membrane having the ceramic sol is dried and then fired to repair a defect portion of the ceramic separation membrane.
