A rotation position detection device includes a change drum, a magnetic field generator, and a magnetic field detector. The magnetic field generator is fixed to the change drum and rotates along with the change drum to differentiate an ambient magnetic field. The magnetic field detector is formed separately from the magnetic field generator and fixed to a position at which a magnetic field changes in response to rotation of the magnetic field generator so as to detect the magnetic field and output a signal that depends on the rotational position of the change drum on the basis of the detection result.

A motorcycle includes a fuel tank, a vehicle body frame, a pair of front forks, and a canister. The fuel tank contains gasoline therein. The vehicle body frame supports the fuel tank. The pair of front forks are placed spaced apart from each other in a vehicle width direction to support a front wheel from both sides in the vehicle width direction such that the front wheel is rotatable, and mounted to the vehicle body frame such that the pair of front forks are rotatable around a head pipe. The canister adsorbs gasoline contained in a gasoline vapor present inside the fuel tank and supplies the gasoline to an engine. The canister is placed inward in the vehicle width direction relative to the pair of front forks when viewed from a front, and in front of an engine when viewed from a side.

An exhaust chamber () for a motorcycle is disposed at a location upstream of a muffler () of an exhaust passage () leading from a combustion engine (E). The exhaust chamber () includes a chamber body () having expansion compartments () defined therein, a chamber outlet pipe () having an outlet passage defined therein for discharging the exhaust gases (G) from the chamber body (), and an exhaust control valve () disposed in the chamber outlet pipe () for adjusting the sectional area of the outlet passage inside the chamber outlet pipe ().

A breather structure of an engine having a crank case and a cylinder fastened to an upper side of the crank case can improve the strength of a cylinder and can prevent an increase of weight of the engine. The breather structure is provided with a breather chamber integrally formed with the cylinder in an outer peripheral wall of the cylinder, and the breather chamber separates air including an oil mist within the crank case into an oil component and a gas component, returns the oil component into an oil reservoir of the engine, and discharges the gas component out of the crank case.

An engine for a vehicle for which the work of replacing an oil filter or an oil cooler is easily executed. The vehicle engine is provided with a crank case, a cylinder head having an exhaust passage outlet in a front face, an oil pan being independently formed from the crank case and attached to a lower surface of the crank case, an oil supply path communicating the oil pan with lubricated positions of the engine so as to circulate oil in the oil pan, an oil pump drawing the oil from the oil pan and pressure feeding the oil to the lubricated positions via the oil supply path, and an oil filter or an oil cooler interposed in the middle of the oil supply path and attached to a front face, a side face or a rear face of the oil pan.

The present invention provides a generator cooling system of an engine which can supply sufficient cooling oil to a generator even during low speed operation, without complicating an oil passage formed within a wall of a crankcase. In the generator cooling system of the engine having a generator accommodated in a generator room which is formed at an end portion of the crankcase in a longitudinal direction of a crankshaft of the engine, the generator cooling system is provided with an oil passage formed to the crankcase in a position lower than an axis of the crankshaft, and an oil nozzle provided in the oil passage for injecting oil of the oil passage toward a lower portion within the generator room.

A cylinder for crankchamber precompression type two stroke engines includes three pairs of main scavenging ports which are symmetrical with respect to a longitudinal plane passing through the centers of the intake and exhaust ports and containing the longitudinal center line of the cylinder. A pair of auxiliary scavenging ports are provided at the opposite sides of the longitudinal plane in such a manner that in a horizontal cross-section the flows from the auxiliary ports do not intersect with the flows from the main ports. Further, the auxiliary scavenging ports are directed further upwardly than the main ports.
