An electrophotographic photoreceptor includes: a conductive supporting member; a photosensitive layer that is disposed on the conductive supporting member; and a non-contact IC tag that retains inspection information including a previously measured characteristic parameter of the photosensitive layer.

An image forming method includes a photoreceptor preparation step, a coated paper preparation step, a charging step, an exposure step, a development step, and a transfer step. The electrophotographic photoreceptor has a conductive support and a photosensitive layer disposed on the conductive support. The photosensitive layer on the farthest side from the conductive support, includes a surface layer containing at least one selected from the group consisting of fluorine based resin fine particles, a carbonate resin, an arylate resin. The coated paper has a substrate and a coated layer, disposed on at least one surface of the substrate. Provided are a process for producing a high-molecular-weight polycarbonate, which comprises polymerizing a diol and a carbonate diester through transesterification with heating in the presence of a basic oxide catalyst, and an electrophotographic photoreceptor containing this high-molecular-weight polycarbonate as a binder resin. This process can easily produce the high-molecular-weight polycarbonate safely without having an adverse effect on humans and environment. An electrophotographic photoreceptor is disclosed which comprises an electroconductive support, a first interlayer formed on the support and containing low-resistance electroconductive particles having a specific resistance of from 10.degree. to 10.sup.4 .OMEGA.cm, a second interlayer formed on the first interlayer and containing high-resistance electroconductive particles having a specific resistance of from 10.sup.4 to 10.sup.8 .OMEGA.cm, and a photosensitive layer formed on the second interlayer. In the electrophotographic photoreceptor, in which the interlayers have an increased thickness for hiding defects present on the support and contain electroconductive particles dispersed therein, the photosensitive layer is free from the electrification performance decrease caused by charge injection thereinto and the interlayers have excellent leak-preventive properties.

An electrophotographic photoreceptor excellent in electric characteristics and having few defects in image quality, and an image forming method for forming an image free from defects in image quality by the contact charging system. The inventive electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising a conductive substrate having thereon an undercoat layer and a photosensitive layer, in which the undercoat layer comprises a copolymer resin having a hydrolytic silyl group. The copolymer resin having hydrolytic silyl groups is preferably an acrylic copolymer resin. Further, the undercoat layer may contain electrically conductive particles. When an image is formed using this electrophotographic photoreceptor, a method comprising contacting a charging device with a surface of the electrophoto-graphic photoreceptor and supplying charge from the outside to charge the photoreceptor can be employed.

An electrophotographic method for image formation comprising forming an electrostatic latent image on an electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising a conductive substrate having formed thereon a photosensitive layer containing a high polymeric arylamine compound represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein n represents an integer of from 5 to 5000; m represents 0 or 1; y represents 1, 2, or 3; Ar represents ##STR2## wherein R represents a methyl group, an ethyl group, a propyl group, or a butyl group; Ar' represents ##STR3## wherein R is as defined above; X represents an alkylene or isoalkylene group having from 2 to 10 carbon atoms; and Z represents ##STR4## or --Ar--(W).sub.k --Ar--, wherein Ar is as defined above; W represents --CH.sub.2 --, --C(CH.sub.3).sub.2 --, --O--, --S--, ##STR5## (wherein s represents 0, 1, or 2; and R and Ar' are as defined above); and k represents 0 or 1, developing the latent image with a microcapsule toner containing in its core at least a polymer dispersed in a solvent, and transferring the toner image to paper. Copies of satisfactory image quality can be obtained in a stable manner for an extended period of time without being accompanied by the phenomenon of copy image disappearance.

An electrophotographic photoreceptor excellent in durability is disclosed, which has a conductive substrate having provided thereon a photosensitive layer, wherein said photosensitive layer contains a copolymerized polycarbonate resin comprising repeating units represented by structural formula (I) and repeating units represented by structural formula (II) as a binder resin: ##STR1## wherein m/(n+m) is from 0.1 to 0.9 by molar ratio.

Electrophotographic photoreceptor with copolymerized polycarbonate resin

An electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising an electrically conductive substrate having thereon a photosensitive layer is disclosed, wherein the photosensitive layer contains, as a charge generating material, a dispersion of selenium or a selenium alloy and at least one squarylium compound represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein A represents a fluorine atom, a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group, with B representing a hydroxyl group; or A represents a hydrogen atom or a fluorine atom, with B representing a methyl group, in the same binder resin. The electrophotographic photoreceptor not only has broad spectral sensitivity from the visible to infrared region but is excellent in other electrophotographic properties.
