An actuator apparatus for driving a focus adjusting lens of a focus adjusting mechanism of an endoscope comprises a moving member put in slidable frictional engagement with a base of the endoscope, the moving member having coupling means for coupling with the movable portion within the endoscope, a piezoelectric element coupled to the moving member, the piezoelectric element and the moving member alone constituting a body of the actuator apparatus, and actuator control circuit for causing quick deformation in the piezoelectric element, enabling the piezoelectric element to apply an impulse force to the moving member, thereby moving the moving member against a frictional engagement force acting between the base and the moving member.

Actuator apparatus

The distal end of an endoscope is provided with at least an objective optical system and a torque transmission member for supporting a rotating treatment member. The distal end of the torque transmission member comprises a hollow to which a support axis formed in the rotating treatment member is fitted, a slit for guiding a protrusion formed on the external circumference of the support axis, and a locking member for locking the protrusion in the slit. Torque is transmitted from the torque transmission member to the rotating treatment member by means of the protrusion formed on the external circumference of the support axis of the rotating treatment member and the slit formed on the torque transmission member for guiding the protrusion.

Disclosed is an industrial endoscope system having a rotary treatment member, attached to a hard top part at a distal end of an insertion unit, for effecting a treatment such as grinding by rotating this treatment member itself. The system includes a moving means for making a distal end of the treatment member movable in the axial directions of the insertion unit. This easily leads the treatment member to a target position via a lead-in port of an engine; or the treatment member can be set in a position suitable for the treatment.
