An MMR system for publishing comprises a plurality of mobile devices, an MMR gateway, an MMR matching unit, and an MMR publisher. A computer includes a document authoring application, plug-in, and printer driver. The MMR matching unit receives an image query from the MMR gateway and sends it to one or more of the recognition units to identify a result including a document, the page and the location on the page. The list of results and links are sent back to the MMR gateway for presentation on the mobile device. The present invention also includes a number of novel methods including a method for capturing symbolic information from documents and for capturing printer dll functions.

Generating and storing a printed representation of a document on a local computer upon printing

In a printer network system including a client device and a server device connected to the client device via a network, the server device includes a virtual print processor unit which receives a request of a print job from an application unit of the client device and generates image data as intermediate data and job definition data that define print settings of the print job, and an exclusive access control unit which controls exclusively writing and reading of the image data and the job definition data. The client device includes an output condition control unit which determines one of output destinations meeting conditional information in accordance with predetermined rules. A delivering unit acquires the job definition data and the image data by communicating with the exclusive access control unit, selects a printer driver corresponding to the output destination, and transmits a print command to the printer driver.

Capturing symbolic information from documents upon printing

A data processing apparatus having a device driver part for controlling a device includes a storing part configured to store device capability data, a receiving part configured to receive a designation of a PrintTicket having setting data indicating control settings used for controlling the device, a determining part configured to determine whether the designated PrintTicket has been fabricated by the device driver part or another device driver part, a first controlling part configured to apply all of the setting data to the control settings in a case where the designated PrintTicket is determined to be fabricated by the device driver part, and a second controlling part configured to compare the device capability data with the setting data and apply at least a part of the setting data to the control settings in a case where the designated PrintTicket is determined to be fabricated by the other device driver part.
