An optical fiber cable capable of absorbing water and resisting any undesirable increase of transmission loss caused by temperature variations. It has a core assembly formed by surrounding a stack of cores ( ) in e.g. ribbon form by a shock absorbing member ( ), at least one member ( ) of high tensile strength and a sheath ( ) formed from e.g. a thermoplastic resin and enclosing the core assembly and the high-tensile member ( ). The shock absorbing member ( ) is a strand of e.g. yarn not absorbing water, but carrying a water-absorbing resin.

Optical fiber cable

An optical fiber cable enabling a reduction of diameter of the cable, without increasing the manufacturing cost, and improved in work efficiency when pulling out cores in the middle of the cable for cable connection work etc., provided with a tape core stack comprised of a stack of a plurality of tape cores each comprised of an integral assembly of a plurality of optical fibers arranged in parallel and embedded in a resin, at least one fiber cord member wound around an outer circumference of the tape core stack along its longitudinal direction, and a sheath formed outside of the tape core stack and the fiber cord member wound around the outer circumference of the tape core stack.

A light-scattering-type smoke detector is disclosed which comprises a base portion to be secured to a ceiling, a head part forming one of the parts of a detecting portion to be detachably mounted to the base portion through setscrews passed therethrough, and a dark box forming the other of the portions of the detecting part to be detachably connected to the head part by screwing the setscrews thereto, the dark box comprising a body portion and a cover portion put one upon another. The body portion has a printed circuit board integrally secured thereto on its upper surface and the dark box is surrounded by a labyrinth around its outer periphery that is internally provided with a light projection element and a light receiving element. The smoke detector allows the dismounting of the head part from the base portion, and the dark box from the head part so that maintenance and repair of the smoke detector can be carried out quite easily.
