The present invention relates to a method for producing purified water comprising a step of passing water through a mixed bed ion exchanger comprising beads having a diameter of less than 0.5 mm, as well as to a module comprising an ultrafiltration means and a mixed bed ion exchanger as defined above and a water treatment system for producing ultrapure water comprising ultrafiltration means and a mixed bed ion exchanger as defined above, wherein the ultrafiltration means is located upstream of said mixed bed ion exchanger.

Method for producing ultrapure water

The present invention relates to a method for producing purified water comprising a step (a) of passing water through a mixed bed ion exchanger comprising beads having a diameter between 0.2 and 0.7 mm and a step (b) of passing water through a fibrous ion-exchange material. The invention further relates to a module comprising the mixed bed ion exchange resin and the fibrous material and to a water treatment system for producing ultrapure water comprising the mixed bed ion exchange resin and the fibrous material.

The present invention relates to a method for producing purified water comprising a step (a) of passing water through a first mixed bed ion exchanger comprising beads having a diameter between 0.5 and 0.7 mm and a step (b) of passing water through a second mixed bed ion exchanger comprising beads having a diameter of less than 0.5 mm. The invention further relates to a module comprising the first and second mixed bed ion exchanger and to a water treatment system for producing ultrapure water comprising the first and second mixed bed ion exchanger.

The invention provides a water purification and dispensing system, preferably for producing ultrapure water and offering the purified water at dispensing sites. The system () comprises a first purification stage () for purifying water to a first water purity grade, a water recirculation loop () including a second purification stage () for purifying water to a second water purity grade higher than the first purity grade and a dispensing portion () for the purified water, and a reservoir () arranged to store the water purified at the first purification stage () through a first connecting flowpath () and to deliver the stored water to the water recirculation loop () through a second connecting flowpath (). A 3-way valve () is provided in the flowpath between the first purification stage () and the reservoir () to selectively block the flow of purified water to the reservoir () and to drain the purified water from the first purification stage (). A third connecting flowpath () is branched from said dispensing portion () and is connected to the first connecting flowpath () upstream of an UV radiation treatment device ().

A flow-through fluid purification device (), which comprises a container () arranged such that fluid to be purified can flow-through a volume () of the container () from an inlet () to an outlet (), a receptacle () for accommodating a radiation source in the form of a lamp (), wherein the receptacle () has an interface wall () permeable for radiation with a wavelength in the UV-range, preferably between 150 nm and 200 nm, more preferably of 172&#xb1;8 nm, and arranged to let radiation pass into the volume () of the container (), a plurality of baffle plates () located in the volume () of the container () with an inter-baffle distance (D) in the flow direction from the inlet () to the outlet (), wherein the baffle plates () are arranged to force the fluid flowing from the inlet () to the outlet () to flow substantially along the interface wall () and through gaps (G) between the interface wall () and the baffle plates () defining the shortest distance between the interface wall () and the baffle plates (), and wherein the baffle plates () each have a surface on the upstream side in the flow direction which is perpendicular to the interface wall ().

Flow-through fluid purification device and means for accommodating a radiation source

A biocidal fluid purification cap () for a fluid container (), preferably one storing purified water for use in laboratory environments and especially purified water for cell culture and water for molecular biology. The purification cap () includes a cap body () including an engagement feature () for removably attaching the cap body () to a mating engagement feature on a spout of the fluid container () to hermetically close a spout opening, at least one LED () adapted to emit light in the UV-C range, electronic circuitry () for driving the LED(s) (), and a power supply for the electronic circuitry (). The LED(s) () is/are arranged in said cap body () so as to be separated from the environment by an UV-transparent window () provided in the cap body () such that light emitted from said LED(s) () enters the opening of the spout when the cap () is attached to the spout of the container ().

A polishing cartridge in a water purification system for final purification of water for distribution to a point of use. Water purification system and method

A water purification system and method. A closed water recirculation loop supplied at one point by a water inlet with water to be purified, and having at least one outlet point of use of the purified water. Also included is a pump and a water purifier on the loop respectively downstream of the inlet point and upstream of the at least one outlet point, in the water flow direction. The system includes two independent valves, including a first valve on the loop upstream of the pump and a second valve upstream of the at least one point of use outlet point. The first and second valves are selectively opened and closed to recirculate all the water treated by the purifier.
