To provide an optical connector which enables heat generated by an optical interface module arranged on the lower surface of the optical connector to be efficiently dissipated from the upper surface of the optical connector. Optical connector and optical coupling structure

An optical connector fitted upon a tip end portion of an optical fiber ribbon and disposed to face an optical input and output terminators which are installed upon a substrate, and which optically connects between optical fibers of the optical fiber ribbon and each of the optical input and output terminators. The optical connector includes a block shaped connector main body which is disposed to face the optical input and output terminators. The connector main body includes a hollow optical fiber holding portion for holding mainly a coating portion of an optical fiber which is led generally in parallel with the surface of the substrate, a plurality of optical fiber apertures into which the tip end vicinity of the optical fibers are inserted and fixed and a concave spot for changing the optical axis comprising a reflective surface for changing the optical axis and formed in front of an exit of the optical fiber apertures, which causes the optical axis direction of the optical fiber to face the optical input and output terminators.

Semiconductor device having optical signal input-output mechanism

A photoelectric composite module has an optical device, a package and a flexible printed circuit that is set along both case parts of the package, and electric wiring for the optical device is formed thereon. The package has a first case part and a second case part that is connected with the first case part by a hinge and is set on a mounted board. The optical device is joined with a surface that faces the first case part in said flexible printed circuit. The flexible printed circuit has light extraction means for transmitting an optical signal that should be exchanged between the optical device and the optical waveguide. The package has short-circuiting means for making a short circuit between the electrical wiring of the flexible printed circuit and the electrical wiring of the mounted board.

In an optical unit including a photoelectric conversion chip adapted to be optically connected to an optical fiber, and a semiconductor chip for driving the photoelectric conversion chip, both the photoelectric conversion chip and the semiconductor chip are wrapped with a flexible sheet, to thereby produce an enveloper enveloping the photoelectric conversion chip and the semiconductor chip therein. At least a part of the enveloper is formed as a transparent area for allowing an optical connection between the optical fiber and the photoelectric conversion chip.

An optical waveguide or first optical fiber whose one end optically connects with a light exit plane and/or light incidence plane of an optical element and whose other end optically connects with an second optical fiber and a connector for mechanically connecting the optical waveguide or the first optical fiber and the second optical fiber are included. The optical waveguide or first optical fiber is bent in order to change the traveling direction of light so that the light incoming from one end is emitted from the other end substantially in parallel with a board and the light incoming substantially in parallel with the board to the optical waveguide or first optical fiber from the other end is emitted from one end toward the optical element.

Optical connector and optical module

An optical connector according to the present invention including a connector body mounted on an optical module mounted on a circuit board, and a connector fixing member for pressing the connector body against the optical module. The connector fixing member can be engaged/disengaged with/from the circuit board, and thus the connector body can be attached/detached to/from the optical module.

Optical connector for coupling an optical fiber to a circuit board

An LSI package having an optical interface is mounted on a surface of a photoelectric wiring board. The photoelectric wiring board and the optical interface are optically connected with sufficient precision. A wiring board side guide member including socket pins and guide pins is soldered and fixed onto the photoelectric wiring board including an optical transmission line, a guide pin, and a mirror. An optical interface side guide member having a fitting hole is glued to the optical interface. The optical interface is mounted on an interposer of the LSI package. The guide pin of the photoelectric wiring board is fitted into the fitting hole formed through the interposer. The guide pin of the guide member is fitted into the fitting hole of the guide member. As a result, position alignment between the optical interface and the photoelectric wiring board is conducted with high precision.

An offset control circuit can obtain an output waveform free of fluctuation of duty ratio by canceling offset transitionally varying according to elapsed time even upon reception of an optical signal in burst form significantly variable of level difference, an optical receiver employing the same and an optical communication system. The offset control circuit has offset canceling means for canceling an offset component included in a pair of positive-phase and negative-phase signal and varying transitionally according to elapse of time by using at least one of a peak value and a bottom value of the positive-phase and negative-phase signal.

Offset control circuit, optical receiver using the same and optical communication system

An optical receiver array includes a plurality of light-receiving elements, a plurality of amplifiers, and a plurality of low-pass filters. The light-receiving elements convert optical signals of a plurality of channels into electrical signals, respectively. The amplifiers amplify the electrical signals output from the light-receiving elements and output the electrical signals. Each amplifier has positive and negative power supply terminals to which power is supplied. Each low-pass filter is connected between the positive power supply terminal of a corresponding amplifier and a first external power supply terminal or between the negative power supply terminal of a corresponding amplifier and a second external power supply terminal. Each light-receiving element is connected between the positive power supply terminal and an input terminal of a corresponding amplifier or between the input terminal and the negative power supply terminal of a corresponding amplifier.

Optical receiver array

In an optical receiver, a photodiode converts an optical digital input signal to an electrical signal which is fed into a differential amplifier to produce a pair of true and complementary output signals. The true output signal is received by a peak detector and the output of this peak detector is summed in a first adder with the complementary output of the differential amplifier. The true output of the amplifier is summed in a second adder with a predetermined constant voltage. Difference between the output signals of the first and second adders is detected and compared with a decision threshold to produce an output signal at one of two logical levels depending on whether the difference is higher or lower than the decision threshold. Preferably, a second peak detector having a substantially similar operating characteristic to that of the first peak detector is connected between the source of the predetermined constant voltage and the second adder.

Adaptive threshold controlled decision circuit immune to ringing components of digital signals

An optical receiver can operate in response to an input optical signal to produce an output electrical signal. The optical receiver comprises a photo diode (340) for transducing the input optical signal into an electrical signal, a plurality of limit amplifier circuits (310-1, 310-2, . . . , and 310-n) which are connected in series which are connected in series to one another and which have offset compensation functions determined by controllable offset compensation time constants, respectively. The plurality of limit amplifier circuits amplify the electrical signal to produce an amplified and controlled electrical signal in dependency upon the offset compensation time constants controlled. The optical receiver further comprises adjusting circuits (320-1, 320-2, . . . , and 320-n) connected to the limit amplifier circuits for adjusting at least one of the offset compensation time constants to make the limit amplifier circuits produce the amplified and controlled electrical signal and an output terminal OUT for producing the amplified and controlled electrical signal as the output electrical signal.

Optical receiver capable of responding to both burst and continuous

An optical receiving circuit comprising a plurality of amplifying circuits successively connected in a multiple stage form, each of the plurality of amplifying circuits having an offset compensating function. The optical receiving circuit includes offset compensating circuits respectively arranged in the plurality of amplifying circuits. Time constants of the offset compensating circuits are set in such a manner that the time constant of an offset compensating circuit arranged at one stage is smaller than that of an offset compensating circuit arranged at the previous stage.
