Flow control elements (FCEs) and fluid apparatus including the same are described. In embodiments the flow control elements (FCE) include a body that includes a front side, a back side, a left side, and a right side. The body further includes a base region, an upper region, and an intermediate region between the base region and the upper region. The FCE is configured to move in response to a fluid flow (or, more specifically, a pressure differential across the FCE) to regulate a flow of fluid past the FCE. In embodiments the FCE is included in a fluid apparatus for a vehicle, such as but not limited to a suction filter for a vehicle transmission.

Flow control elements and fluid apparatus including the same

Anti-drainback valves, flex tube assemblies that include one or more anti-drainback valves, and fluid filters that include one or more flex tube assemblies and/or anti-drainback valves are disclosed. In embodiments the anti-drainback valves and flex tube assemblies are described in the context of their use in a multi (e.g. dual) pump fluid filter, such as a dual pump transmission fluid filter. A fluid filter apparatus comprising an upper housing shell; a lower housing shell; a pleat pack element comprising a peripheral frame and a folded pleated media. The frame is at least partially molded over the media to secure the media in the frame, and the media comprises two or more types of media of different densities from each other. A flow control element is disposed for changing the proportion of flow between the first media and the second media responsive to changes in at least one of temperature, pressure, flow rate and/or viscosity of the fluid.

A fluid filter apparatus comprising an upper housing shell; a lower housing shell; a pleat pack element comprising a peripheral frame and a folded pleated media. The frame is at least partially molded over the media to secure the media in the frame, and the media comprises two or more types of media of different densities from each other.

At least one embodiment of the invention pertains to a fluid filter having a fine media element and a coarse media element inside a housing. The fine media element has a plurality of apertures through a flange around the periphery of the fine media element.

Filter with internal frame openings

A filter apparatus has a housing, an inlet port on one side of the housing and an outlet port on an opposed side of the housing. Sheet media is disposed in the housing having a first opening through the sheet media. Also dispersed in the housing is a bag media comprising an enclosed bag with a second opening into the bag. The first opening and the second opening are connected in fluid communication with each other and the sheet media is disposed before the bag media in the direction of flow through the housing so that both media are mounted inside the housing. Some fluid entering the inlet passes through both openings and through the bag media and into the outlet, and other fluid entering the inlet passes through the sheet media and then to the outlet.

A suction-side transmission or engine filter includes a filter bag assembly having an outlet portion and a media bag enclosing an inner support structure, the filter bag assembly is contained at least partially within a housing having an outlet port. The outlet portion and outlet port are aligned and sealed together creating an outside-in fluid flow scheme.
