A repeater system for relaying wireless communications between a base station and one or more devices having: a repeater to relay network information from a base station to one or more devices; a donor antenna configured to receive and/or transmit network information between the repeater and the base station; a power supply external to the repeater; and, a server antenna integrated with the power supply, the server antenna configured to receive and/or transmit network information between the repeater and the one or more devices.

An antenna system includes a donor antenna sub-system, a server antenna sub-system, and a processor to optimize the gain of the repeater in the system. The gain in the antenna system is increased by optimizing the isolation between the donor and/or server antenna sub-systems according to a cost function.

System for maximizing gain in a repeater

A repeater configured to dynamically affect the gain level of the repeater in response to the input signal power level over time. The repeater system includes a gain hold processor executing a gain hold algorithm. The gain hold algorithm preempts a large up-step in signal power level to follow a large down-step in signal power level. After a large up-step in input signal is detected, the system holds the gain level in response to a drop in input signal level after the large up-step. The gain is held at the level set by the large burst of input signal power to the repeater. In response to a larger up-step in signal power level, the system will lower the gain. In response to a large down-step in signal power after the larger up-step in signal power level, the system will hold the gain level of the repeater. During a prolonged low-power level or zero power signal at the input of the repeater, the system will slowly raise the gain level of the repeater over time.

Systems, methods, and articles are provided for detecting uplink repeater capacity within a wireless network. Algorithms are used to determine when an out of power error condition is present to help minimize service quality issues.

Detecting uplink repeater capacity

A method to process DP bits from multiple fingers within a WCDMA rake receiver is provided. DPCH pilot symbols are received, quantized and channel compensated. Then processing operations for individual fingers for the channel compensated quantized despread DPCH pilot symbols are chosen based on the DPCH slot format. The DPCH pilot symbols are processed based on the DPCH slot format in order to produce processed DPCH pilot symbols in a common format. These processed symbols may then be combined. Other embodiments may further allow for the computation of an SNR estimate based on the combined DPCH pilot symbols.

Method and apparatus to process dedicated pilot bits from multiple fingers

A method to process DP bits and TPC bits from multiple fingers within a WCDMA rake receiver is provided. DPCH symbols are received, quantized and channel compensated. Then processing operations for individual fingers for the channel compensated quantized despread DPCH symbols containing DP bits and TPC bits are chosen based on the DPCH slot format. The DPCH symbols are processed based on the DPCH slot format in order to produce processed DPCH pilot symbols in a common format. DP bits and TPC bits may be processed in parallel by separate processing branches or in series by applying timing control to common processing modules. These processed symbols may then be combined. Other embodiments may further allow for the computation of an SNR estimate based on the combined DPCH symbols.
