A near-eye display system includes an image source, an occluder display, an additive display, a world-facing camera, and a process. The image source projects light including an image. The occluder display displays an occluder mask, blocking light from the real world. The additive display combines the light from the image source with the real world light not blocked by the occluder display. The world-facing camera captures a world image. The processor obtains the occluder mask based on a virtual reality (VR image) and obtains an estimated occlusion image representing an estimate of a user's blurred view of the occluder display. The processor further generates the image based on the VR image, the estimated occlusion image, and the world image.

A system for tracking a position and an orientation of an external device such as a smart watch or a handheld controller relative to a head mounted display (HMD) device is provided. A combination of active markers and passive markers on the external device may be detected by a point tracking camera of the HMD to collect position data for the external device relative to the HMD. Acceleration and/or orientation data of the external device relative to the HMD may be collected from an inertial measurement unit(s) (IMU(s)) of the external device and/or the HMD. The fusion of the position data with the data collected by the IMU(s) may allow for tracking of the external device relative to the HMD.

Low-power semi-passive relative six-degree-of-freedom tracking

A vehicle mounted imaging system tracks and resolves image using an object image regions of interest at a higher resolution than that which can be provided by typical wide-angle optics. The imaging system includes an object identification camera, a sampling camera, and one or more computing devices. The one or more computing devices obtain a full-frame image from the object identification camera and identify at least one region of interest within the full frame image. The one or more computing devices then configure the sampling camera to capture images of a sampling area containing the region of interest, wherein the sampling area consists of some, but not all, of a field of view of the sampling camera. Using a super-image resolution technique, the one or more computing devices create a high-resolution image of the region of interest from a plurality of images captured by the sampling camera.

Implementations generally relate to providing data transmission between devices over audible sound. In some implementations, a method includes mapping each symbol of data to a frequency combination, where each frequency combination includes one or more frequencies. The method further includes generating a sine wave for each frequency. The method further includes adding sine waves for a given symbol to obtain a resulting sine wave. The method further includes applying a window function to the resulting sine wave to obtain a data signal.

Data transmission between devices over audible sound

An image capture device is disclosed. The image capture device may generally include an optical element configured to create a light cone having a focal plane. The image capture device may also include an image sensor having an active area defining an image plane that is angled relative to the optical element. In addition, the image capture device may include a controller communicatively coupled to the image sensor. The controller may be configured to control the image sensor such that the light passing through the optical element is detected by a readout area of the active area. The readout area may be set by the controller based on the position of the focal plane relative to the image sensor.

In one aspect, a system for controlling the focus of a lens is disclosed. The system may generally include a sensor configured to detect changes in a focal distance of the lens and a thermal device configured to adjust a lens temperature of the lens. In addition, the system may include one or more computing devices communicatively coupled to the sensor and the thermal device. The computing device(s) may be configured to control the thermal device such that the lens temperature is adjusted in a manner that reduces variations in the focal distance.

System and method for controlling the focus of a lens

Systems, methods and articles of manufacture for rigid flex circuit boards are described herein. Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to equipping a rigid flex circuit board with a first rigid substrate, a second rigid substrate that includes an asymmetric region where the first rigid substrate is not extended over the asymmetric region of the second rigid substrate. The rigid flex circuit board also includes a flexible substrate between the first rigid substrate and the second rigid substrate. A second portion of the flexible substrate protrudes from the non-overlap region where the second portion of the flexible substrate is not adhered to the second rigid substrate in the non-overlap region. The second portion of the flexible substrate is configured to be accessible from the asymmetric region of the rigid flex circuit board.

A device holder for retaining an electronic device is disclosed. The device holder may generally include an inner member and an outer member. The inner member may include a back wall and first and second inner sidewalls extending from the back wall so as to define an inner slot configured to receive at least a portion of the electronic device. The outer member may be configured to receive at least a portion of the inner member and may include a first outer sidewall configured to be disposed adjacent to the first inner sidewall and a second outer sidewall configured to be disposed adjacent to the second inner sidewall. When the electronic device is received within the inner slot, at least a portion of the first inner sidewall may be configured to be deformed between the electronic device and the first outer sidewall and at least a portion second inner sidewall may be configured to be deformed between the electronic device and the second outer sidewall.

A system and method for isolating the motion of a camera relative to a base structure is disclosed. In one embodiment, the system may generally include a plurality of bearing pucks coupled to the base structure. Each of the bearing pucks may be configured to receive and expel a pressurized fluid. In addition, the system may include a camera support coupled to the camera. The camera support may include at least one bearing member defining a spherical surface. The bearing member may be positioned adjacent to the bearing pucks such that the pressurized fluid forms a fluid layer between the spherical surface and the bearing pucks. The fluid layer may suspend the bearing member relative to the bearing pucks such that the camera support is rotationally isolated from the base structure.
