Compounds of formula (I) are CD80 inhibitors, and of value for immunomodulation, e.g. in rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, asthma, transplantation, systemic lupus erythematosis and psoriasis: wherein Y is &#x2014;CH&#x2014;, &#x2014;CHCH&#x2014;, or CHCHCH&#x2014;; Rrepresents H; F; methyl, trifuoromethyl, methoxy or triflioromethoxy; Rrepresents H; F; CI; Br; NO; CN; CCalkyl optionally substituted by F or Cl; or C-Calkoxy optionally substituted by F; Rrepresents a carboxylic acid group (&#x2014;COOH) or an ester thereof, or &#x2014;C(&#x2550;O) NRR&#x2014;NRC(&#x2550;O)R, NRC(&#x2550;O)OR, NHC(&#x2550;O) or NHC(&#x2550;S)NRRwherein Rand Rare as defined in the specification and X represents a bond or a divalent radical as defined in the specification.
