A rocker arm includes an outer arm with an outer follower including a first outer roller and a second outer roller both supported on an outer arm roller shaft, the outer arm roller shaft having a first portion having a first diameter which is supported in the outer arm by a first outer bearing; a second portion having a second diameter which is supported in the outer arm by a second outer bearing; and a third portion having a third diameter such that the third diameter is smaller than the first diameter and the second diameter. An inner arm selectively pivots relative to the outer arm, the inner arm having an inner follower and also having an inner arm aperture through which the outer arm roller shaft extends such that the third portion of the outer arm roller shaft is located within the inner arm aperture.

Rocker arm

A rocker arm includes an outer arm with an outer follower and an inner arm which selectively pivots relative to the outer arm, the inner arm having an inner follower. A lost motion spring biases the inner arm to pivot relative to the outer arm. A lock pin which slides between a coupled position and a decoupled position. A pivot shaft includes a first portion a second portion centered about a first pivot shaft axis and a third portion located between the first portion and the second portion that is centered about a second pivot shaft axis which is parallel to, and laterally offset from, the first pivot shaft axis. The third portion supports the inner arm.

Switchable rocker arm with lash adjustment

A rocker arm includes an outer arm; an inner arm which selectively pivots relative to the outer arm; and a latching arrangement which switches the rocker arm between a coupled state and a decoupled state. The latching arrangement includes a connecting bore which is terminated by a connecting bore floor; an oil supply bore which opens into the connecting bore through the connecting bore floor; a lock pin bore which opens into the connecting bore through the connecting bore floor; a lock pin within the lock pin bore where the lock pin prevents the inner arm from pivoting in the coupled state and where the lock pin permits the inner arm to pivot in the coupled state; and a retainer within the connecting bore which defines a chamber within the connecting bore which provides fluid communication between the oil supply bore and the lock pin bore.

Latching arrangement for switchable rocker arm

A water vapor transfer unit having fluid flow conduits which distribute wet or dry fluid throughout the water vapor transfer unit, which are created by forming apertures in each wet and dry plate so that when the plates are stacked, fluid flow inlet and outlet headers are integrated into the flow stack. These integrated headers negate the need for traditional wet and dry fluid inlet and outlet manifolds external to the water vapor transfer unit stack. Because the plates are stacked and sealed so that the fluid flows cannot co-mingle, the fluids are introduced directly into the stack, flow across the flow fields, and exit the stack without leakage or flow contamination. The integrated header design allows for sealing the stack on no more than a single plane defined by the stack or on no more than two parallel opposing planes and allows for accommodation of stack expansion and contraction.

A rocker arm includes a follower which follows a first lobe of a camshaft and is mounted to a rocker arm body; a lock pin that is selectively moveable in a lock bore between a first position and a second position in order to prevent relative movement between the rocker arm body and the follower in one of the first position and the second position and to permit relative movement between the rocker arm body and the follower in the other of the first position and the second position; and a rocker arm oil passage in fluid communication with the lock bore for communicating oil therethrough to move the lock pin between the first position and the second position. The rocker arm oil passage is elongated in a circumferential direction relative to the lock bore.

A water vapor transfer unit assembly is disclosed, the water vapor transfer unit assembly including a plurality of water vapor transfer units having a fluid permeable membrane and a plurality of supports disposed within a sealing frame adjacent an end plate of a fuel cell stack, wherein the sealing frame is adapted to provide support to the end plate and a fuel cell stack of the fuel cell stack system.

Sealed water vapor transfer unit assembly with integrated load transferring structure

A bypass unit for a water vapor transfer assembly includes a main body, a check valve, and an adjustable flow regulator. The main body has a conduit formed therethrough. The check valve is in communication with the conduit. The check valve normally militates against a flow of a bypass stream through the conduit and permits the flow of the bypass stream through the conduit above a threshold flow rate. The flow regulator is in communication with the conduit. The flow regulator permits an adjustment of the flow of the bypass stream to modify the water transfer rate of the water transfer assembly.

Adjustable air flow bypass in a water vapor transfer assembly to reduce beginning of life water transfer variation

A water vapor transfer assembly for a fuel cell system includes at least one water vapor transfer device. The water vapor transfer device permits a transfer of water from a wet stream to a dry stream. The water vapor transfer device is disposed between a pair of end plates. The end plates each have a plurality of outwardly extending ribs. The water vapor transfer device and the end plates are disposed within a housing having a pair of wet stream apertures and a pair of dry stream apertures formed therein. The housing further includes a plurality of channels formed adjacent the dry stream apertures. The channels are in fluid communication with the wet stream apertures. The outwardly extending ribs of the end plates cooperate with the channels to define a tortuous bypass flow path between the wet stream apertures of the housing.

Water vapor transfer assembly

An ejector for a fuel cell stack is disclosed, wherein the ejector includes an integrated check valve that supports hydrogen recirculation and militates against a backflow of hydrogen flowing through the ejector.

Fuel cell ejector with integrated check valve

A fuel cell system is provided including a fuel cell stack having a first end and second end; an upper end unit adjacent the first end of the fuel cell stack; a lower end unit adjacent the second end of the fuel cell stack; and a compression retention system disposed external to the fuel cell stack. The compression retention system includes at least one restraining member extending from the upper end unit to the lower end unit, fastening means disposed at opposite ends of the at least one restraining member, and compressive means interposed between at least one of the fastening means and the end units; wherein the fastening means and the compressive means urge the upper end unit toward the lower end unit, thereby applying compressive force to the fuel cell stack. Also provided is a method for assembling the fuel cell system.

An apparatus and method for controlling a plurality of charge motion control devices in the air intake manifold. In a first aspect of the invention, the valves are controlled through a single common drive shaft. In a second aspect, the runners each include an air flow bypass positioned between the valve and the cylinder head mounting end of the runner such that the valve is positioned further away from the combustion chamber.

Charge motion control device using a single common drive shaft

A tumble control valve for an intake manifold of an engine which eliminates or substantially reduces air leakage between the bottom and sides of the valve blade through a selected rotational segment of the blade as it moves from the closed position toward the open position. The sealed area is maintained by contouring the inner cavity wall to track the arc defined by the bottom edge of the rotating blade. In other embodiments, a flexible flange or wedge-shaped element is attached to the blade to engage the inner cavity wall through the selected rotational segment. In another aspect of the invention, air flow pressure is maintained and tumble is optimized compared to rotational movement of the blade by contouring the top wall surface to track the arc defined by the rotating upper edge of the blade.
