A pesticidal coating composition is provided which comprises an aqueous dispersion of at least one film-forming binder and at least one microencapsulated pesticide; wherein a coating prepared from such composition is substantially water-impermeable upon curing. The present invention further provides methods of coating substrates with the pesticidal coating composition, as well as substrates coated with the composition. The pesticidal coating compositions of the invention can be applied to substrates by professionals or non-professionals by spraying, painting, rolling, or brushing, before, during, or after construction.

Aqueous coating compositions

An encapsulated composition of (a) a pesticide at least active via ingestion that is photolabile, and (b) at least one photoprotectant, wherein the encapsulating polymeric barrier is base triggerable is disclosed. A method for controlling damage of a material by a pest by the use of such encapsulated compositions is likewise disclosed. The composition as disclosed gives protection for beneficial arthropods and reduces workers exposure.

Capsule formulation

A microencapsulated catalyst is prepared by dissolving or dispersing a catalyst in a first phase (for example an organic phase), dispersing the first phase in a second, continuous phase (for example an aqueous phase) to form an emulsion, reacting one or more microcapsule wall-forming materials at the interface between the dispersed first phase and the continuous second phase to form a microcapsule polymer shell encapsulating the dispersed first phase core and optionally recovering the microcapsules from the continuous phase. The catalyst is preferably a transition metal catalyst and the encapsulated catalyst may be used for conventional catalysed reactions. The encapsulated catalyst may recovered from the reaction medium and re-cycled.

Microencapsulated catalyst methods of preparation and method of use thereof

A novel microcapsule comprising an encapsulated material which is enclosed within a solid permeable shell of a polymer resin having surface modifying compounds capable of reacting with isocyanate incorporated therein is disclosed. The process for producing such microcapsules is likewise disclosed.

Microcapsules

Reactive polymeric surfactants are disclosed, and their use in processes for preparation of microcapsules, and in stabilising emulsions. The surfactants are random graft polymers or block copolymers which contain both hydrophobic and hydrophilic units and in which the hydrophobic unit includes a hydrophilic cross-linking unit which reacts with (a) a wall forming ingredient in a microencapsulation process, or (b) an ingredient in the disperse phase of an emulsion.

Use of reactive polymeric surfactants in the formation of emulsions

A process for making microcapsules of an oil which are in dispersion in water comprises the steps of; (i) forming an initial dispersion of the oil in water in the presence of a surfactant, (ii) heating the initial dispersion above its phase inversion temperature, to form a bicontinuous phase composition, (iii) allowing or causing the composition to cool to below the phase inversion temperature so as to form an emulsion of oil droplets in the water, and (iv) encapsulating the oil droplets. The oil preferably has dissolved in it an oil-soluble or oil-dispersible active ingredient selected from agrochemicals, cosmetics, fragrances, sun-screens, ink-jet dyes, pigments, toners, biocides and pharmaceutical and veterinary products including drug delivery systems.

Process for making microcapsules involving phase inversion

A process is provided for producing a polymeric layer having a desired image thereon or a three dimensional article comprising a number of such layers in which a layer of a liquid photocurable composition which comprises photo colorable particles is cured by light and selected areas thereof are irradiated with light of a different dose, thereby forming the desired image which composition comprises particles dispersed in it which are micro-capsules containing a photosensitive color changing composition within a barrier layer which is substantially impermeable to the components of the color changing composition or are solid particles comprising an immobilized photosensitive color changing composition. The process permits the use of the same initiating mechanism to cure the resin and to change the color of the particles.

A novel microcapsule comprising a liquid core material which is substantially insoluble in water and enclosed within a solid permeable shell of a polymer resin containing disulfide linkages is disclosed. The process for producing such microcapsules is likewise disclosed.

Variable release microcapsules

Solid water-dispersible compositions containing microencapsulated pesticides are produced by spray-drying an aqueous suspension of said pesticides in the presence of a water-soluble polymer, preferably polyvinyl alcohol.
