An open-cavity, reduced-pressure treatment device and system for treating a cavity in a patient's body, such as an abdominal cavity, is presented. In one instance, an open-cavity, reduced-pressure treatment device includes a plurality of encapsulated leg members, each having an interior portion with a leg manifold member and formed with fenestrations operable to allow fluid flow into the interior portion, and a central connection member fluidly coupled to the plurality of encapsulated leg members. The central connection member has a connection manifold member. The open-cavity, reduced-pressure treatment devices, systems, and methods allow for, among other things, removal of fluids.

Open-cavity, reduced-pressure treatment devices and systems

The present invention provides an apparatus comprising a wound dressing connected to a fluid container via a pump, wherein the wound dressing is in communication with a mechanical pressure control valve, the fluid container is provided with an inlet and an outlet. Also provided are (i) flexible fluid containers comprising of at least two layers of film with an integrated vent, (ii) wound dressings and (iii) a multi-compartment wound fluid container comprising at least two internal compartments and provided with an outlet and an inlet, in which the container comprises a microporous fluid separator which divides the at least two internal compartments, wherein the microporous fluid separator permits gas flow between the compartments and prevents fluid flow to the outlet of the container. Other apparatus provided comprises a means for detecting the level of fluid within a multi-compartment wound fluid container as described. The invention also provides a system for applying a sub-atmospheric pressure to a wound dressing on a patient using devices and apparatus of the invention and methods of treatment of wounds using such apparatus, devices and systems of the invention.

The present invention provides a wound dressing tubing connector, comprising a first unit and a second unit which are releasably connectable and which when connected form a fluid path through the connector, wherein the first unit comprises an inlet and an outlet and wherein the second unit comprises an inlet and an outlet, in which the outlet of the first unit and the inlet of the second unit when connected together define the fluid path, and wherein the first unit and the second unit are connectable to form an air and fluid tight seal and wherein the first unit and/or the second unit comprises a pressure regulator valve in fluid communication with the fluid path. Also provided are systems, kits and methods of treatment.

Connector for a medical device

A method of manufacturing a reduced-pressure abdominal treatment system for treating an open abdominal cavity is provided. In some embodiments, the reduced-pressure abdominal treatment system has an open-cavity treatment device for providing reduced-pressure treatment to an abdominal cavity; a deep-tissue closure device for applying a closing force on a deep-tissue wound; and a surface-wound closure subsystem for providing a closing force on a surface wound. The method of manufacturing may also include providing a reduced-pressure supply subsystem. A method of treatment using a reduced-pressure abdominal treatment system is also disclosed.

Reduced-pressure, abdominal treatment systems and methods

The illustrative embodiments described herein are directed to a manually-actuated pump and method for applying reduced pressure at a tissue site. The manually-actuated pump includes at least one variable volume chamber that is manually compressible into a plurality of positions. The manually-actuated pump includes a fixed volume chamber in communication with the at least one variable volume chamber. The manually-actuated pump also includes a filter housing having a hydrophobic filter that prevents liquid from entering the at least one variable volume chamber. The fixed volume chamber is coupled to the at least one variable volume chamber via the filter housing. The filter housing is located in between the at least one variable volume chamber and the fixed volume chamber. The fixed volume chamber has reduced pressure that is applied to the tissue site in response to a movement of the at least one variable volume chamber from a compressed position in the plurality of positions to an uncompressed position in the plurality of positions.

System and method for applying reduced pressure at a tissue site

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for applying reduced pressure to a tissue site on a foot are provided. An apparatus may include an insole and a tissue contacting surface covering at least a portion of the insole. At least one portion of the tissue contacting surface is removable to form a void. The apparatus may also include a reduced-pressure interface for receiving reduced pressure from a reduced-pressure source, and at least one flow channel fluidly coupled to the reduced-pressure interface and the void.

Foot manifolds, apparatuses, systems, and methods for applying reduced pressure to a tissue site on a foot

A manually-activated reduced pressure treatment system includes a substantially rigid housing, and an end cap slidingly received by the housing. An inner chamber is disposed between the end cap and housing, and a volume of the inner chamber is variable in amount depending on the position of the end cap within the housing. The end cap is slidingly movable between an uncompressed position at which the volume of the inner chamber is at a maximum value and a compressed position at which the volume of the inner chamber is at a minimum value. A position indicating member is associated with the end cap and housing to indicate the position of the end cap relative to the housing at predetermined positions between the uncompressed position and the compressed position.

Reduced pressure delivery system having a manually-activated pump for providing treatment to low-severity wounds

The present invention provides an apparatus comprising a wound dressing () connected to a fluid container () via a pump (), wherein the wound dressing is in communication with a mechanical pressure control valve (), the fluid container is provided with an inlet () and an outlet (). Post-scar formation reduction apparatus comprises a biocompatible scar interface layer, a compressible pressure chamber overlying the scar interface layer, and an at least substantially uniformly compressible pressure element in the pressure chamber which extends over the scar interface layer. The pressure element has a bulk modulus enabling a predetermined uniform or substantially uniform compression of the pressure element in at least a direction perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the scar interface layer on application of a specific pressure. Evacuator is also provided which at least partially evacuates the pressure chamber, whereby the pressure element is uniformly or substantially uniformly compressed in the direction of the scar interface layer and the pressure chamber positively urges the compressed pressure element towards the scar interface layer.

Scar reduction apparatus

A reduced-pressure, wound closure system is presented that generates a closing force on a surface wound and optionally provides reduced pressure to a body cavity or tissue site. The sealed contracting member, when placed under reduced pressure, generates the closing force. One illustrative system includes a first attachment member and a second attachment member, a sealed contracting member coupled to the first attachment member and the second attachment member, and wherein the closing force is generated between the first attachment member and the second attachment member when reduced pressure is supplied to the sealed contracting member. Other systems and methods are presented.

The illustrative embodiments described herein are directed to a system and method for administering reduced pressure at a tissue site. The apparatus includes a reduced pressure source. The reduced pressure source generates a reduced pressure. The apparatus includes a tube having a plurality of lumens. The plurality of lumens includes at least one collection lumen. The reduced pressure source applies the reduced pressure to the tissue site through the plurality of lumens such that the at least one collection lumen receives fluid from the tissue site. The at least one collection lumen stores the fluid received from the tissue site.

Apparatus and method for administering reduced pressure treatment to a tissue site

A method of manufacturing a reduced-pressure abdominal treatment system for treating an open abdominal cavity of a patient is provided. A reduced-pressure abdominal treatment system has an open-cavity treatment device for providing reduced-pressure treatment to a patient's abdominal cavity; a deep-tissue closure device for applying a closing force on a deep-tissue wound on a patient's fascia; a surface-wound closure subsystem for providing a closing force on a surface wound on the patient's epidermis.
