An image capture device includes a lens barrel having a first end and a second end opposite the first end; one or more inner lenses disposed within the lens barrel; a retaining ring configured to rotatably mount to and be removed from the lens barrel or a body of the image capture device at the first end of the lens barrel; an outer lens configured to be secured by the retaining ring in a position covering the first end of the lens barrel; an O-ring compressible between the outer lens and the lens barrel or the body of the image capture device; and an image sensor mounted within the body of the image capture device at the second end of the lens barrel. The image sensor is configured to capture images based on light incident on the image sensor through the outer lens and the one or more inner lenses.

An integrated sensor-lens assembly for an image capture apparatus. The integrated sensor-lens assembly defines an optical axis and includes: a lens holder, a cover glass holder that is secured to the lens holder at a first interface; and a printed circuit board that is secured to the cover glass holder at a second interface, whereby the cover glass holder indirectly connects the lens holder to the printed circuit board such that the lens holder and the printed circuit board are devoid of any direct connection.

Integrated sensor-lens assemblies in image capture apparatuses and methods of assembling the same

Systems and methods are disclosed for replaceable outer lenses for use in water. For example, an image capture device may include a lens barrel in a body of the image capture device; a replaceable lens structure mountable on the body of the image capture device, the replaceable lens structure including a first set of two or more stacked lenses, including a first outer lens, and a first retaining ring configured to fasten the first set of two or more stacked lenses against a first end of the lens barrel in a first arrangement, wherein the first set of two or more stacked lenses is configured to collimate light incident on the first outer lens when the first outer lens is underwater at an interface between the lens barrel and the first replaceable lens structure; and an image sensor mounted within the body at a second end of the lens barrel.

Interchangeable lens structures

An optical module for an image capture system is disclosed. The optical module includes a first integrated sensor-lens assembly (ISLA) that is oriented in a first direction and which defines a first optical axis and first mounting surfaces; a second ISLA that is oriented in a second, opposite direction and which defines a second optical axis coincident with the first optical axis and second mounting surfaces; and an adhesive that is located between the first mounting surfaces and the second mounting surfaces such that the first ISLA and the second ISLA are directly connected together.

Integrated sensor-lens assembly alignment in image capture systems

The present teachings provide an image capture device that includes a lens barrel disposed in a body of the image capture device. A bayonet is coupled to the lens barrel and includes one or more fingers that project outward from the bayonet. The image capture device also includes a replaceable lens module configured to releasably couple to the bayonet. The replaceable lens module includes a retaining ring, a lens positioned in an opening of the retaining ring, and a spring plate coupled to an interior surface of the retaining ring. The spring plate is configured to engage the one or more fingers of the bayonet to releasably couple the replaceable lens module to the bayonet. Additionally, the spring plate is configured to elastically deform when the spring plate engages the one or more fingers of the bayonet to compress the replaceable lens module towards the lens barrel.

An image capture device is described that includes a body; a mounting structure that is connected to the body; an integrated sensor-lens assembly (ISLA) that defines an optical axis and extends through the body and the mounting structure; and an accessory that is releasably connectable to the mounting structure via rotation through a range of motion less than approximately 90 degrees. The mounting structure and the accessory include corresponding angled bearing surfaces that are configured for engagement such that rotation of the accessory relative to the mounting structure creates a bearing effect that displaces the accessory along the optical axis to thereby reduce any axial force required during connection and disconnection of the accessory.

Removable lens accessories for image capture devices

Systems and methods are disclosed for replaceable outer lenses. For example, an image capture device may include a lens barrel in a body of the image capture device, the lens barrel including multiple inner lenses; a replaceable lens structure that is mountable on the body of the image capture device, the replaceable lens structure including an outer lens and a retaining ring configured to fasten the outer lens in a position covering a first end the lens barrel in a first arrangement and configured to disconnect the outer lens from the body of the image capture device in a second arrangement; and an image sensor mounted within the body at a second end of the lens barrel, the image sensor configured to capture images based on light incident on the image sensor through the outer lens and the multiple inner lenses when the retaining ring is in the first arrangement.

A camera mount, comprising: a body, one or more magnets, and one or more pins. The one or more magnets located within the body and configured to connect to a magnetic portion or a ferromagnetic portion of a camera. The one or more pins that extend axially outward from the body above the one or more magnets and are configured to extend into recesses within the camera.

The lens attachment includes a body that overlays a lens of an image capture device and one or more lights integrated with the body that emits light in a direction so that the light is not directed into the lens of the image capture device. The lens attachment includes a connector integrated with the body that secures the lens attachment against a housing of the image capture device.
