Disclosed herein is a system including a wellsite controller. The wellsite controller receives workflow inputs such as wellsite details and communications settings, generates a local configuration entry including the workflow inputs, sensor configuration information about wellsite sensors connected to the controller, and a unique identifier for the controller. The unique identifier is based upon the workflow inputs, the sensor configuration information, and location information for the wellsite. The controller generates a registration message from the local configuration entry. A server receives the registration message, and compares the unique identifier to a store of known identifiers. If the unique identifier does not match one of the known identifiers, the server recognizes the controller as being newly added, adds the wellsite to a monitoring system of the server by creating an entry for the wellsite from the registration message, and attempts to map the wellsite sensors to the entry for the wellsite.

Workflow for self provisioning smart well controller

A method for ranking performance of each production well in a plurality of production wells includes sensing a production parameter value for each production well using a sensor and receiving the production parameter value for each production well using a processor. The method also includes performing two or more different calculations for each production well using the production parameter value, each calculation providing a calculated performance indicator, multiplying each calculated performance indicator by a weight factor to provide a weighted performance indicator; and summing each of the weighted performance indicators for each production well to provide a unit-less performance index value for each production well. The method further includes inputting into the processor a threshold value of the unit-less performance index and identifying any production well that has a corresponding unit-less performance index value that exceeds the unit-less performance index threshold value as an under-performing well.

A method of performing aspects of an energy industry operation includes simulating an energy industry operation parameter by an analysis module, wherein simulating includes predicting values of the operational parameter via one or more mathematical models of the assembly and a formation region, and estimating an uncertainty range of at least one of the input data and the predicted values of the operational parameter; generating a performance envelope based on the predicted values and the uncertainty range; generating an operating envelope by the analysis module, the operating envelope prescribing minimum constraints on the operational parameter; during the energy industry operation, receiving real time measurements of the operational parameter by a production performance module, and comparing the measured operational parameter to the operating envelope and the performance envelope; and based on the measured operational parameter being outside the performance envelope, controlling the energy industry operation to adjust the operational parameter.
