Processes for producing copper granules on a surface of a reducing metal. The process can include contacting the reducing metal with an aqueous solution comprising a copper(II) salt and a halide. The molar ratio of the halide to the copper(II) in the copper (II) salt can be at least about 3:1. The granular copper can be produced on a surface of the reducing metal, and is optionally removed from the surface of the reducing metal by shaking, washing, and/or brushing, and/or optionally with stirring and/or circulating of the aqueous solution.

The present application described a method of reducing methoxypyrazines (MPs) in grapes or grape products comprising: (a) contacting the grape or grape product with a protein that binds to MPs at a pH of about 3 to about 4 to form a protein-MP complex; and (b) removing the protein-MP complex from the grape or grape product. Also described is a method of removing MPs from samples comprising contacting the sample with a polyethersulfone membrane.

Method for reducing methoxypyrazines in grapes and grape products

An apparatus for determining one or more elements or compounds in a laboratory sample, and for simultaneously performing both vapor generation and nebulization in one device, is disclosed. The apparatus comprises an enclosed cyclonic spray chamber with two integrally affixed cylindrical ports, one for introducing a nebulizer into the chamber and the other for facilitating volatilization of analytes within the chamber. In addition, two conical tubes are integrally affixed to the chamber and oriented opposite each other, with one tube serving as the means for introducing a sample into the spray chamber, and the other tube serving as the means for introducing reductant/reactant into the spray chamber. This invention allows a sample that has been introduced into the spray chamber to be subjected to nebulization or vapor generation, or to both processes.
