A method for manufacturing a cross car beam assembly for use with a vehicle includes joining first and second support brackets to opposite ends of a cross car beam using an adhesive, such that the adhesive is a primary attachment means for joining the support brackets to the cross car beam. Furthermore, the support brackets are attachable to the vehicle so as to support the cross car beam in the vehicle.

A weight-sensing assembly for supporting an automotive seat cushion frame atop a track assembly includes a pair of coupling members that are secured to the seat cushion frame. A set of mounting locations on each coupling member, preferably separated by an elongate portion of the coupling member of generally uniform cross-section, are secured to a respective end of a strain gage sensor's elongate sensing beam. The other end of each sensing beam is secured to a respective mounting location defined on the upper rails of a seat track assembly. A seat support for supporting a vehicle seat outside the vehicle has a base frame adapted for engagement with a support surface outside the vehicle, a support frame configured to engage with and support the vehicle seat, and a plurality of legs connecting the base frame to the support frame. The legs are vertically adjustable in order to vertically adjust the support frame relative to the base frame.

Portable support for a vehicle seat

A seat assembly including a vehicle seat and a system for rotating a vehicle seat are provided wherein the system is designed to carry integrated seat restraint loads. The seat includes a base having a lower base section and an upper base section which supports the vehicle seat on an upper surface thereof. A reversible DC motor and a transmission including a drive screw are supported on the lower base section. A flexible cable couples an output shaft of the DC motor to the drive screw which rotates about a horizontal axis upon actuation of the DC motor. The transmission also includes a drive nut threadedly mounted on the drive screw to move along the substantially horizontal axis upon actuation of the motor. The transmission further includes a link coupled to the upper base section and the drive nut to transmit linear motion of the drive nut to rotary motion of the upper base section. The system also includes a bearing assembly having a plurality of thrust bearings which rotatably supports the upper base section on the lower base section. The lower base section includes a tongue portion clamped between the thrust bearings. The system provides a compact structure which fits completely under the vehicle seat and is capable of carrying the integrated seat restraint loads including shoulder belt load and lap belt load.
