A frictionless access control system and method embodying satellite cameras for facial recognition are disclosed. The cameras capture image data of individuals at an access point such as a door. Preferably, two or more cameras are placed on opposite sides of the access point to increase the likelihood that the individuals are captured in the image data. A facial cropper module extracts facial patches from the image data, and a facial signature module computes facial signatures from the facial patches. A facial recognition module receives the computed facial signatures from the facial signature module, matches the computed facial signatures to stored facial signatures, and sends user identity information of individuals corresponding to the stored facial signatures to the facial signature module when the computed facial signatures match the stored facial signatures.

A system and method for object location notification in a fire alarm system is disclosed. The fire alarm system includes a fire alarm panel and fire alarm devices deployed within a premises that capture audio and/or image information. The fire alarm panel generates alarm signals and provides notifications of the existence of objects of interest from the audio and/or image information captured by the fire alarm devices. In examples, the fire alarm devices include alarm notification devices that generate an audible and/or visible fire alarm to occupants of the premises such as sirens and strobe lights, and fire sensor devices such as flame sensor devices and smoke sensor devices that monitor for flame and smoke as the indications of fire, respectively. In one embodiment, an analytics system is integrated within the fire alarm devices that determines the existence of the objects of interest from the captured audio and/or image information.

The methods comprise: detecting an Active Security Tag ('AST') in an EAS detection zone; determining whether AST is coupled to an object identified in a list; and performing operations when a determination is made that AST is coupled to a listed object. A system and method for analysing queues in frames of video enables operators to preferably draw three regions of interest overlaid upon the video as short, medium, and long queue regions that form a notional queue area within the video. Examples include retail point of sale locations or for automated teller machine (ATM) transactions. A system and method for identification and suppression of time varying background objects is disclosed. A proposed surveillance security system includes an image analytics system and at least one surveillance camera. The image analytics system identifies objects within image data of a scene captured by the surveillance camera, and then analyzes the objects to determine whether each object is a foreground object or a dynamic background object. In examples, the image analytics system determines whether an object is a foreground object or a dynamic background object based upon movement and/or an appearance of the object. The surveillance security system does not send alerts to users of the system for objects determined to be dynamic background objects. When users request objects of interest, the dynamic background objects are also excluded from lists of objects sent in reply messages to the users.
