In some examples, dependency-based metadata retrieval and update may include receiving a query for an update of metadata associated with an application. The query may include a previous version associated with a previous synchronization of the metadata. Alternatively or additionally, the query may include a metadata tree associated with the metadata. Dependency based metadata retrieval and update may further include generating, based on the query and a dependency tree, a response to include the update that includes a modification to a metadata fragment of the metadata. The dependency tree may include a parent and child relationship between each of a plurality of metadata fragments including the metadata fragment, and may further include versions associated with the plurality of metadata fragments.

Dependency-based metadata retrieval and update

A method and apparatus are provided for determining the layout of a form automatically to accommodate text in the form. Under the method and apparatus, a set of parameters define the sizing and alignment of elements of the form. Sizing and positioning instructions that are separate from the sizing and alignment parameters set the sizing and positioning of elements of the form based on the sizing and alignment parameters. The instructions determine the minimum size for the form, based in part on text in the form. The difference between the minimum size for the form and a desired size for the form is then distributed across the form to size and position the elements in the form.

Method and apparatus for form automatic layout

Synchronization between email, contact management, scheduling (ECS) and customer relationship management (CRM) applications is facilitated through a synchronization module on the ECS side using an Extensible Markup Language (XML) file for keeping track of synchronization states. The CRM server version of an item is compared with the XML file to detect changes and the same performed for the ECS item. The changes are then pushed to the corresponding item for the columns that have changed. Last updated item is selected in case of a conflict.

Bidirectional synchronization with CRM applications

An automated contact import module enables users to select groups of contacts to import from an email, contact management, scheduling (ECS) application based on viewing contacts by category, organization, email domain, and similar attributes. Contacts in selected groups are imported to a CRM application with automatic data mapping. Communication history may be part of the import process by searching previously indexed emails, appointments, and comparable data associated with the selected contacts effectively creating a data hierarchy at the CRM application.
