The present invention describes exemplary embodiments of a method and apparatus for transmitting raster graphics. The method comprises determining a region, from 3D scene information for quality adjustment in a raster sequence of frames, wherein the raster sequence is generated by a graphics processing unit (the GPU) and consumed by an image encoder and the 3D scene information is provided by the GPU to the image encoder via shared memory and adjusting, by the image encoder, quality for the region according to the 3D scene information and a resource target for encodings of the raster sequence of frames.

Method and apparatus for rasterizing and encoding vector graphics

The present invention describes exemplary embodiments of a method and apparatus for rasterizing and encoding vector graphics. The method comprises determining, by an image encoder, a difference between a transmission frame rate of an image encoder and a raster sequence frame rate of a raster sequence of images rasterized by a graphics processing unit (GPU); and adjusting, by the GPU, image detail of the raster sequence according to the difference.

In one embodiment a method for communicating data comprises receiving, by a traffic manager between a plurality of virtual machines (VMs) and a network interface, (a) first data from a first VM in the plurality of VMs and en route via a first client computer to a first device, and (b) second data from a second VM in the plurality of VMs and en route via a second client computer to a second device; determining first attributes of the first data that provide a first communication requirement; determining second attributes of the second data that provide a second communication requirement; determining, based on available bandwidth of the network interface, a communications schedule associated with cumulative bandwidth of the first and second communication requirements; and transmitting, according to the communications schedule, the first data to the first client computer and the second data to the second client computer.

A method for communicating media between a host and a display system. In one embodiment the method comprises acquiring, by the host and via a wireless connection between the host and the display system, display information of the display system; generating, by the host, an image sequence at a resolution and a frame rate, the resolution and the frame rate determined from the display information; communicating, from the host to the display system and via the wireless connection, an encoding of the image sequence; and displaying, by the display system, a decoding of the encoding.

Method and apparatus for remote input/output in a computer system

A method and apparatus for encoding an image is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises identifying initial pixels within a spatially defined sub-section, the initial pixels at least a defined number of pixels each comprising a first color; identifying background pixels, the background pixels comprising the first color and in a first defined spatial proximity to the initial pixels; identifying text pixels, the text pixels contrasting the first color and in a second defined spatial proximity to the background pixels; identifying picture pixels as all pixels other than the background pixels and the text pixels; generating a background encoding comprising (i) spatial locations of the background pixels and (ii) a lossless encoding of the first color; generating a text encoding identifying a spatial location and a lossless color encoding of each of the text pixels; and generating a picture encoding comprising a lossy encoding of the picture pixels.

Apparatus and method for encoding an image generated in part by graphical commands

A method and system for providing computer input/output (I/O) functionality within a remote computing environment. The system comprises a host audio controller and a remote audio controller for bridging audio data between a host computing system and at least one remote audio device, a host USB controller and a remote USB controller for bridging USB data between the host computing system and at least one remote USB device, and an encoder module and a remote display decoder for bridging a digital video signal from the host computing system to a remote display, wherein the host audio controller, the host USB controller, and the encoder module are communicatively coupled to the remote audio controller, the remote USB controller, and the remote display decoder, respectively, via a computer network.

A method and apparatus for encoding an image is disclosed. A decomposition circuit comprises a set of pixel filters used to identify picture pixels, background pixels and text pixels of the image. An image encoding circuit comprises a lossy discrete transform encoder for encoding the picture pixels, a constant color lossless encoder for encoding the background pixels, and a discrete color lossless encoder for encoding the text pixels.

A system and methods for connecting a computer and at least one computing appliance to a graphic user interface comprising a display and peripheral devices is disclosed. A user interface session is associated with a computer connected to the graphic user interface by a network connection. A second user interface session, comprising a display overlay and new user interface settings is established in response to a user event such as a telephony event associated with the computing appliance. Methods and apparatus for managing a shared GUI

Communicating between virtual machines on a host computer and remotely located devices connected to device interfaces of remote computers is disclosed. The method comprises establishing communication between the host computer and at least one remote computer in operative control of at least a first device interface and a second device interface; determining that the device interfaces belong to a set of supported device interfaces; associating the at least one remote computer with at least one virtual machine; presenting to the virtual machine, in forms recognizable by the virtual machine as forms in which interface functions are presented by local controllers, interface functions associated with the first device interface and the second device interface; executing commands in response to the interface functions associated with the device interfaces; and sending to the remote computer commands and/or data related to the presented interface and usable by the device interfaces.

Method and apparatus for communications between a virtualized host and remote devices

A display encoding system is disclosed. The display encoding system includes at least one processor, an encoding circuit, the encoding circuit having a structure separate from the structure of the processor(s), a communication connection to a computer network, a drawing memory, a traffic manager, and a memory access circuit. The processor(s) are configured to execute drawing commands, access the drawing memory via the memory access circuit to store image representation(s) in the drawing memory. The encoding circuit is configured to access the drawing memory to encode at least a portion of the image representation(s) stored in the drawing memory based on the executed drawing commands. The traffic manager is configured to transmit the encoded image over the communication connection to at least one display device.

Methods and apparatus for encoding a shared drawing memory

A system and methods for connecting a graphic user interface to a powered network is disclosed. The network-powered graphic user interface system converts encoded computer user interface signals transmitted over a powered network cable to multiple signal sets, each set associated with a peripheral device interface. Methods for managing the admission of the peripheral devices are also described. Connection criteria include the power budget for the connection, device characteristics, device power requirements and the characteristics of other devices sharing the powered network connection.
