A system for containing a sample for analysis by a spectrometer, comprising a sample receptacle unit with a well for containment of the sample, the well comprising a well inner wall and well floor, a floor aperture in the well floor, and comprising a first spectroscopy element, the first spectroscopy element spanning the opening of floor aperture, wherein the well further comprises a sealing material at the interface of the inner wall with the first spectroscopy element, wherein radiation is free to pass through the floor aperture to the first spectroscopy element.

Displaceable receptacle for test sample

An alignment device having two angular degrees of freedom is provided. The alignment device is adjustable such that it is suitable for aligning a first apparatus with respect to a second apparatus. The first apparatus may emit one or more of electromagnetic waves, acoustic waves and matter towards the second apparatus and for detection by the second apparatus. The first and second apparatuses may be disposed in a harsh environment such as is found in the vicinity of an industrial process stack. In some embodiments the first apparatus is a laser, preferably a tunable diode laser, and the second apparatus is a receiver incorporating a detector. In these embodiments the apparatuses may be used to perform laser absorption spectroscopy on a process gas flowing through an industrial process stack.

Alignment device and transmitter/receiver system with two angular degrees of freedom

A die arrangement for pressing, sintering or stamping comprising: a die body with a cavity extending from an opening at a first end of said die body to an opening at a second end of said die body, and one or more moving parts arranged around the opening at said first end of said die body, wherein each moving part is displaceable between a first position and a second position. The die body may be configurable to receive a die plunger at said second end of said die body, said plunger being displaceable within the cavity. The die arrangement may further comprise an outer sleeve mounted on the die body, the outer sleeve being coaxial with the die body and having a first outer sleeve portion nearest to the first end of said die body, and one of: a second outer sleeve portion nearest to the second end of said die body; a second outer sleeve portion fixedly attached to the plunger base nearest to the second end of said die body; or, a second outer sleeve portion extending directly from the plunger base nearest to the second end of said die body, the second outer sleeve portion and the plunger base being a single unitary component.

Die arrangement

A method and system for reducing the effect of distortions on the baseline signal in an absorption spectroscopy system used for the detection or measurement of chemical species in a medium, whereby one or more correlations or convolutions are performed on the signal using a kernel function. The shape of the kernel function is chosen to reduce the influence of the baseline distortions on the processed measurand determination. The kernel function may also be chosen to enhance the absorption signal.

Method and system for reduction of influence of baseline distortion in absorption spectroscopy measurements

A method and system for correcting the effect of intensity fluctuations of the transmitted light in an absorption spectroscopy system used for the detection or measurement of chemical species in a medium, whereby one or more modulation bursts are imposed onto a light beam that passes through the medium. This burst signal may be obtained by modulating the bias current of a tunable diode laser, and the modulation burst signal may be optimally at the second harmonic of the modulation frequency of a wavelength modulated beam to allow usage of the same signal path processing used for the spectroscopic detection of the measurand for a second harmonic detection system. The burst signal can be controlled using a smooth window function to minimise the effects of non-linear perturbations that are inherent in tunable diode laser wavelength modulation spectroscopy systems, of optical interference fringes (etalons) and of the residual light absorption by background chemical species or the measurand at the wavelength coinciding with the modulation burst.

Method and system for correcting incident light fluctuations in absorption spectroscopy

This present invention relates to a device for the measurement of the amount of oxygen in a gas mixture, or other gas with significantly different magnetic susceptibility than the background gas mixture, by the use of a suspended test body in a magnetic field that experiences force due to the magnetic susceptibility of the measurand gas. In order to enable a fast time response for the system with a change in oxygen concentration, a flow regime is presented which allows a fast sweep of the measurement volume combined with adjustable, balanced pressure drops via a flow balancing element (or elements) within the flow channels to independently minimise flow related uncertainties.

Paramagnetic gas sensor apparatus and adjustment method

A feed head has a delivery path along which nuts are fed to a pressing station in the feed head, the pressing station having a pressing die which is reciprocated transversely to the delivery path under the action of a press to fasten a nut to a sheet metal member. A cam is provided to reciprocate the pressing die manually to facilitate clearance of blockages in the feed head, and also to hold the pressing die in its lowered position to allow operation of the press without operating the die. A sensor for detecting nuts at the pressing station is positioned on the end of the delivery path, enabling a narrower feed head design. An electrical coupling and nut delivery tube are integrated to facilitate connection in confined spaces.

Feed head

An installation head adapted to receive a fastener for securing the fastener to a sheet metal member on actuation of the head by a press. The head includes a main block having a bore, a cylindrical press member disposed within and supported by the bore, the press member having an arrangement for receiving and holding the fastener, wherein the cylindrical press member is rotatable in the bore between a first position, in which the fastener is received by the arrangement for receiving and holding the fastener and held in position relative to the press member, and a second position for actuation of the press.
