An electronic device includes a housing defining a magnet attachment area, a bracket positioned in the magnet attachment area, and a magnet attached to the bracket. The bracket is configured to permit angular displacement of at least a portion thereof about an axis of rotation by no more than a predetermined displacement. The bracket may include a platform and a pair of spaced apart pivot arms. In such a case, the platform is configured to support the magnet and the pivot arms are attached to the platform at separate locations aligned along the axis of rotation. Alternatively, the bracket may include a platform, a pair of pivot arms, and a pin. The pivot arms may each define a respective pin aperture and be orthogonal to the platform and spaced apart such that the platform is positioned between them. The pin is positioned in the pin apertures of the pivot arms.

A system to coordinate event data from a plurality of smart sensor devices that are coupled to streetlight fixtures to generate a last known state across the plurality of smart sensor devises. The plurality of smart sensor devices receive a distributed clock that is common among the smart sensor devices. A local clock of each smart sensor device is synchronized to the distributed clock. Each smart sensor device monitors and stores event data in an incident buffer. The stored event data is correlated to the distributed clock. The stored correlated event data is transmitted to a remote server. The remote server aggregates the correlated event data from the plurality of smart sensor devices based on the distributed clock to generate a last known state across the plurality of smart sensor devices.

A system to identify incidents associated with streetlight fixtures based on sensor data from one or more smart sensor devices. Each smart sensor device is coupled to a respective streetlight fixture and captures data from one or more sensors. The data from a single smart sensor device or a plurality of smart sensor devices is aggregated to generate a current data signature of the one or more smart sensor devices. The current data signature is compared to a plurality of known signatures to determine if an incident associated with a streetlight fixture has occurred. Such incidents can include a failed light source, a failing light source, a weather incident, a geologic incident, etc. Depending on the type of incident an instruction is sent to the one or more smart sensor devices to perform one or more responsive actions.

Failure modeling and management of an aerial light fixture

An apparatus connectable to a streetlight luminaire includes a housing, an electrical connector, power conversion circuitry, and an output power interface. The housing has a top surface, a bottom surface, and at least one sidewall interconnecting the top and bottom surfaces. The electrical connector is integrated with the bottom surface of the housing and electromechanically connectable to a top-side electrical connector of the streetlight luminaire. The power conversion circuitry is operable to receive an input alternating current (AC) signal from the electrical connector and produce at least one output AC signal, wherein an average voltage of each output AC signal is less than an average voltage of the input AC signal. The output power interface is electrically coupled to the power conversion circuitry and integrated with the sidewall(s) of the housing. The output power interface is arranged to provide the output AC signal(s) for use external to the housing.

Apparatus and method for providing power at a streetlight

A system to couple a controller to a roadside aerial lighting fixture includes a primary male connector integrated with the controller and a primary female connector integrated with the roadside aerial lighting fixture. The primary male and female connectors are compliant with a roadway area lighting standard promoted by a standards body. The primary male connector protrudes from a first substantially planar surface of the controller. The primary female connector is recessed within a second substantially planar surface of the roadside aerial lighting fixture. A controller-side high speed communications data element is integrated with the primary male connector, and a fixture-side high speed communications data element is integrated with the primary female connector. The controller-side high speed communications data element is arranged for point-to-point high speed data communication with the fixture-side high speed communications data element when the controller is rotatably coupled to the roadside aerial lighting fixture.

A small cell device includes a housing body, a heat sink, an interface board, a first power amplifier (PA) board, a second PA board, a power board, and a main board. The housing body defines a cavity and has two depthwise ends. The heat sink is coupled to the housing proximate a first depthwise end. The interface board is positioned within the cavity and adjacent to the heat sink. The first PA board is positioned within the cavity and adjacent to the interface board and the heat sink. The second PA board is positioned within the cavity and proximate a second depthwise end. The power board is positioned within the cavity and adjacent to the second PA board. The main board is positioned within the cavity between the interface board and the second PA board. The heat sink dissipates heat generated during operation of at least the first PA board.

A system to couple a controller to a roadside aerial lighting fixture includes a primary male connector integrated with the controller and a primary female connector integrated with the roadside aerial lighting fixture. The primary male and female connectors are compliant with a roadway area lighting standard promoted by a standards body. The primary male connector protrudes from a first substantially planar surface of the controller. The primary female connector is recessed within a second substantially planar surface of the roadside aerial lighting fixture. A controller-side data connector protrudes from the first substantially planar surface or a third surface substantially parallel to the first substantially planar surface. A fixture-side data connector is recessed within the second substantially planar surface or recessed within a fourth surface substantially parallel to the second substantially planar surface. When the controller is rotatably coupled to the roadside aerial lighting fixture, the primary male connector is electrically coupled to the primary female connector, and the controller-side data connector is communicatively coupled to the fixture-side data connector.

A streetlight-mountable small cell includes a housing having one or more external surfaces exposed to atmospheric conditions when the small cell is deployed on a streetlight. The small cell also includes one or more internal chambers formed in the housing, power supply circuitry, and cellular-band transceiver circuitry. A standardized connector is arranged to pass power to the power supply circuitry when the small cell housing is deployed on the streetlight. At least one antenna-containment structure visually appears integrated with the one or more external surfaces. Each antenna-containment structure is arranged to contain at least one antenna positioned external to the one or more internal chambers, and at least one sub-structure is arranged to route a signal conduit from the at least one antenna to the cellular-band transceiver circuitry.

A small cell networking device includes a compartment in which at least one printed circuit board (PCB) is mounted. At least three networking modules are mounted on the at least one PCB. A first one of the networking modules is arranged as a gateway to a first wireless network. A second one of the networking modules is arranged as a gateway to a second wireless network. A third one of the networking modules monitors network traffic in the first wireless network or second wireless network. First and second antennas are mounted to a first surface of the compartment, between a second surface of the compartment and the PCB. A third antenna is mounted to the second surface of the compartment between the second surface of the compartment and the PCB. The first, second, and third antennas are respectively coupled to the first, second, and third networking modules.

Aerially mounted wireless networking device antenna system

A small cell networking device mountable to a streetlight fixture includes circuitry for converting alternating current power into direct current (DC) power and providing a digitally stable ground for operation of the small cell device. The circuitry includes a transformer isolating a primary side from a secondary side of the circuitry. A switching controller on the primary side directs a switching circuit to selectively permit current flow through a primary side of the transformer to a first ground node on the primary side. A secondary winding of the transformer sources a rectified DC output relative to a second ground node that is isolated from the first ground node. In some cases, compensation on the secondary winding side provides isolated feedback to the controller, such as via an optical isolator. The controller directs the switching circuit based at least on the feedback and input from an auxiliary winding of the transformer.

Circuitry for providing digitally stable ground

An apparatus attachable to a luminaire includes circuitry for converting alternating current power into direct current (DC) power and providing a digitally stable ground for operation of a processor-based device. The circuitry includes a transformer isolating a primary side from a secondary side of the circuitry. A switching controller (e.g., a pulse width modulation controller) on the primary side directs a switching circuit to selectively permit current flow through a primary side of the transformer to a first ground node. A secondary winding of the transformer sources a rectified DC output relative to a second ground node that is isolated from the first ground node. In some cases, compensation on the secondary winding side provides isolated feedback to the controller, such as via an optical isolator. The controller directs the switching circuit based at least partially on the feedback and input from an auxiliary winding of the transformer.

A clamp includes a first clamp body portion arranged for removable coupling about a generally cylindrical support structure to a second clamp body portion. The first clamp body portion includes a first clamp structure containing a first generally semi-spherical floating bushing, the first generally semi-spherical floating bushing coupled to the first clamp structure. The second clamp body portion includes a second clamp structure containing a second generally semi-spherical floating bushing, the second generally semi-spherical floating bushing coupled to the second clamp structure.
