An internal combustion engine crankcase lubricating oil composition has a phosphorus content of not greater than 0.08 mass % and a metal detergent additive system comprising a calcium salicylate and a magnesium salicylate and having a mass ratio of magnesium atoms to calcium atoms of greater than one.

Lubricating oil compositions

A multigrade crankcase lubricating oil composition comprising a mineral oil-based basestock of lubricating viscosity in a major amount and a non-hydrogenated olefin polymer in a minor amount. The lubricating oil composition also comprises a dispersant, a metal detergent, one or more other additives, and a viscosity modifier.

Lubricant compositions

A dispersant that is a reaction product of a polyalkenyl-substituted mono- or dicarboxylic acid, anhydride or ester; and a polyamine, wherein the reaction product has from greater than about 1.3 to less than about 1.7 mono- or di-carboxylic acid producing moieties per polyalkenyl moiety, and the polyalkenyl moiety has a number average molecular weight of at least about 1800, and a molecular weight distribution (M /M ) of from about 1.5 to about 2.0.

Dispersants and lubricating oil compositions containing same

A boron-containing dispersant composition containing one or more dispersants that are the reaction product of a polyalkenyl-substituted mono- or dicarboxylic acid, anhydride or ester; and a polyamine, in which at least one of the dispersants has a polyalkenyl moiety with a number average molecular weight of at least about 1800, and from greater than about 1.3 to about 1.7 mono- or di-carboxylic acid producing moieties per polyalkenyl moiety; and in which a ratio of wt. % of boron to wt. % of nitrogen (B/N) for the dispersant composition is from about 0.05 to about 0.24.

A crankcase lubricant containing a Group III basestock in a major amount and a Group V basestock in the form of an ester in a minor amount. The lubricant also comprises a dispersant, a metal detergent, one or more other additives, and a viscosity modifier.

Oil-soluble or oil-dispersible trinuclear molybdenum-sulfur compounds are made by reacting, in a polar medium, a reactant molybdenum compound containing an anion that possesses a trinuclear molybdenum core, and a dithiocarbamate that is produced in situ.
