A turbocharger including a compressor section having a compressor housing with an air inlet and a compressor air discharge and a compressor wheel in the compressor housing. A turbine section having a turbine housing with an exhaust gas inlet and a turbine exhaust gas outlet and a turbine wheel in the turbine housing, the turbine wheel being drivingly connected to the compressor wheel, the exhaust gas inlet being configured to be connected to an engine exhaust passage and the turbine exhaust gas outlet being configured to be connected to an exhaust system. The compressor housing includes a diffuser with a recess that receives the compressor wheel wherein the recess has a sidewall with an upper edge and the compressor wheel has a base plate with an upper surface that is below the upper edge of the sidewall of the recess in the diffuser.

A turbocharger wastegate actuator arm includes a first section made from a rigid composite material, a second section made from a rigid composite material, and a third section made from a flexible polymeric material positioned between and interconnecting the first and second sections and adapted to allow angular deflection of the first section relative to the second section, wherein a longitudinal axis of the first section and a longitudinal axis of the second section define a first angle when the actuator arm is in the first position and the longitudinal axis of the first section and the longitudinal axis of the second section define a second angle when the actuator arm is in the second position, the first angle being greater than the second angle.

An auxiliary oil circuit for a heat-generating assembly having a main oil sump and a fluid pump for controlling oil flow from the sump includes a first fluid passage in communication with the pump. The circuit additionally includes a remote reservoir for receiving sump oil via the first passage and an orifice in the first passage for controlling an amount of sump oil transferred to the reservoir. The circuit additionally includes an active first valve in the first fluid passage for selectively opening and closing communication between the sump and the reservoir. The circuit also includes a second fluid passage in communication with the auxiliary reservoir for returning the oil from the reservoir to the sump. Furthermore, the circuit includes an active second valve arranged in the second passage for selectively opening and closing communication between the reservoir and the sump.
