Systems and methods for manufacturing or repairing components at a remote work site

A technique facilitates detection of gaseous emissions in a marine environment via a vessel or vessels traversing a region of the marine environment. Environmental data is collected via a detection system on each vessel and communicated to a processing system. The processing system processes various environmental data such as location data, emission detection data, wind data, and/or other data to determine an emissions result. This emissions result is output in a form to facilitate decision-making with respect to potential corrective actions to reduce the gaseous emissions.

A downhole tool system may include one or more containers to hold waste product and a tractor to convey the one or more containers to a storage location within a wellbore. The downhole tool system may also include an anchor to seal against the wellbore and secure the containers at the storage location. A tool having a mandrel, an obstruction, and a flowable quantity of eutectic material in a solid state is positioned in the wellbore. The obstruction is actuated and the flowable material is heated to melt. The obstruction supports the flowed material as it cools to form a plug in the wellbore.

A system and method is provided for drilling a wellbore including a rotary drill bit with a bit body having a plurality of mechanical cutters to cut away formation material as the wellbore is formed; and a directed energy mechanism to direct energy into the formation such that energy from the directed energy mechanism causes fracturing of surrounding material to facilitate drilling in the direction of the directed energy. The energy from the directed energy mechanism is used to enhance the cutting of the mechanical cutters by fracturing surrounding material to facilitate drilling in the direction of the directed energy.

A system for measuring a parameter within a well comprises a first and second apparatus. The first apparatus comprises a first reel of first wound optic fiber line (or fiber) able to be unwound from the first reel and at least a first sensor able to measure the parameter of the well, wherein information on the parameter can be transmitted through the first optic fiber. The second apparatus comprises a second reel of second wound optic fiber line able to be unwound from the second reel, an extremity of the second optic fiber being fixed to a reference point. Means to exchange the light pulse between first and second optic fiber line are also provided.
