A protective covering for a lesion comprises a frame for adhering to the skin of a patient and for surrounding a lesion. The frame has a central opening and a generally L-shaped cross section including a wall, and a base that surrounds the lesion and attaches to the patient's skin with an adhesive. One end of the wall extends perpendicularly from the base, extending around the central opening. The free end of the wall includes a peripheral recess wherein a rim of a cover is received. The cover aligns with the opening and the rim extends fully around the cover so that when the frame base is attached to the patient's skin surrounding a lesion, and the rim of the cover is sealingly received in the recess of the wall, a sealed space is provided enclosing the lesion to protect it from the water. The cover may be put on and taken off the frame many times while the adhesive connection between the frame and skin remains intact. Tabs on the frame allow for tugging the frame in opposition to locally applied forces as the cover rim is pressed into the recess of the frame.

Protective covering for body lesions

The hockey puck has a main body portion with opposite parallel surfaces. Ground engaging runners project from each of the opposite base portions of the puck and thus elevate the base surfaces of the puck from the ground to minimize surface contact between the puck and the ground. The ground engaging projections are equally spaced in a circular array at a rim portion of the puck. Openings in the puck concentrate weight at the center and periphery of the puck. The ground engaging projections and the main body portion are formed of different plastic materials, with each plastic selected for the most desirable physical properties and performance characteristics. Thus the ground engaging runners are relatively wear resistant with low ground friction whereas the main body portion is of relatively low hardness and provides the requisite stability and weight to the puck. The puck is formed as a composite of an inner spider mold that forms the ground engaging projections and an overmolded portion that constitutes the main body.

Hockey puck

A shoe, boot, sneaker, etc. incorporates a foot-actuated pump which is connected to one or more expandable air bladders located in portions of the footware where contour fitting is desirable. Walking or running actuates the pump. An adjustable relief valve connected to the bladder releases air when a preselected pressure is exceeded. The relief valve is accessible externally for easy adjustment by the wearer. Regardless of the external ambient temperature or degree of user activity, the pump, in conjunction with the relief valve, maintains a preselected pressure and assures that the selected fit between the user's foot and footware is maintained at all times.

High tech footwear

A connector for corrugated materials includes a first member which has a base member which is held between a pair of panels of corrugated material and a projecting member which has a pair of apertures and which projects outwardly from a slot in one of the panels of corrugated material. A second member has a base plate which is held between a second pair of panels of corrugated material and a plurality of guide fingers some of which enter into the apertures of the first member and some of which enter these apertures and also hook onto the first member thereby locking the second pair of panels onto the first pair of panels. In order to provide additional engagement between the first and second members, the first member is provided with a pair of projecting plates which engage a pair of apertures on the second member when the first and the second members are connected.

Connector for corrugated materials

A hypodermic syringe provided with a safety hypodermic needle and shield assembly to obviate the danger of a handler thereof being accidentally pricked by the point of the needle after it has been injected in a patient and then withdrawn, the withdrawn needle possibly being contaminated with infectious microorganisms. The assembly includes a needle-supporting hub receivable in a socket formed at the front end of a fluid chamber in a standard syringe provided with a projecting nozzle which is inserted in the hollow base of the hub to communicate with the needle. Anchored on top of the hub which serves as a pedestal therefor and surrounding the needle is a helical spring, the convolutions in the upper section of the spring forming a cone and terminating in a sheild through whose center passes the axis of the helix. The normal length of the spring is such as to place the shield in the protective mode of the assembly in front of the needle point to prevent human contact therewith.

Safety hypodermic needle syringe

A hypodermic syringe provided with a safety hypodermic needle and shield assembly to obviate the danger of a handler thereof being accidentally pricked by the point of the needle after it has been injected in a patient and then withdrawn, the withdrawn needle possibly being contaminated with infectious microorganisms. The assembly includes a needle-supporting hub receivable in a socket formed at the front end of a fluid chamber having a projecting nozzle which is inserted in the hub to communicate with the needle. Integral with the hub is a cup-like pedestal on which is anchored a compressible helical spring that surrounds the needle and terminates in a shield having a bore therein to permit the needle to pass therethrough, the normal length of the spring being such as to place the shield just above the point of the needle. In the retracted mode of the assembly, the spring is compressed to retract the shield which is then held by a releasable latching mechanism supported on the pedestal, thereby exposing the needle to permit its use. After the needle is injected in a patient and withdrawn, the shield is unlatched to cause the assembly to assume its extended mode in which the shield covers the point of the needle to prevent human contact therewith.

Safety hypodermic syringe

An electrical connector including moisture sealing and self-locking features comprises pins on the plug, shrouded by a hollow sleeve extending from a unitary body formed of a rigid plastic. The receptacle member, of rigid material, includes sockets for receiving the individual pins. The socketed portion of the receptacle member is surrounded by a hollow sleeve which tapers on its inner surface. The plug member sleeve is untapered. A raised resilient band extends continuously around the plug member sleeve, the band being an integral part of the plug member. When the connector members mate the sleeve on the plug member telescopes between the sleeve and the socket portion of the receptacle member with the elastic band compressed against the tapered inner wall of the receptacle sleeve to form a moisture proof seal. A second resilient integral band extends around the sleeve of the plug member and engages an inner peripheral groove, provided in the tapered surface of the receptacle member. In the engaged position, the resilient material seats within the peripheral groove in the receptacle sleeve. Locking engagement is provided.

Hermetic self-locking electrical connector

A separable fastener of the press-on/pull-off types comprises similar first and second fastener members, each member including a base having a plurality of tapered projections extending from one face surface and a plurality of tapered receptacles recessed into the face surface. Projections and receptacles are positioned in identical patterns and spacings, each projection and receptacle being totally surrounded and isolated by a portion of the base material. The projections on each fastener member are contoured to engage in the receptacles of the other fastener member with a releasable friction fit.

Separable fastener

A tube coupling having a male body, a female body for receiving at least a portion of the male body and at least one peripheral member made from a relatively compressible plastic material molded into a groove within either the relatively rigid male or female body. The peripheral member is disposed to become compresed against a surface of the mating body to form a liquid seal. At least two peripheral members disposed in grooves in a tubular shaped end portion of the male body are made of a compressible plastic and serve as liquid sealing and locking means. The female body comprises a receiving end portion with a tapered interior adapted to receive the male tubular end portion. As the tubular end portion is inserted into the receiving end portion, one of the peripheral members engages the tapered interior surface and becomes compressed there against as the tubular end portion is further inserted. As the tubular end portion is fully inserted a second peripheral member seats itself in a groove in the interior surface of the receiving end portion acting to lock the male and female bodies together. The relatively compressible peripheral members are formed in grooves in the relatively rigid male or female body by insert molding or by simultaneous injection molding of two dissimilar plastics.

Quick disconnect tube coupling

A hull construction especially suited to inhibit marine growth and a method for forming same is provided. The hull construction includes an outer surface having alternating metallic areas and fiber glass areas defining the entire outer hull surface. The metal forming the metallic areas is of the type which inhibits marine growth.

Hull construction and method for forming same

An outer shell construction particularly suited for a ski boot and method for forming same is provided. The outer shell construction is formed by the steps of injection molding an outer shell, and securing a collapsible core to the inside of the boot to define a cavity between the boot and the collapsible core. The collapsible core includes a conduit therethrough. The outer shell construction is completed by introducing a cellular polymer in viscous form through the conduit into the space and curing same.

An injection molding process by which the characteristics of a product may be controlled by molding the product of two or more dissimilar melts by simultaneous injection of the dissimilar melts into the mold in such a manner that the dissimilar melts intermix at transitional zones to provide a one-piece construction with strong chemical and/or mechanical bonds at the transitional zones.

Injection molding process

A picture hanging arrangement in which an elongated horizontal member is fastened to the wall surface from which a picture is to be suspended. A vertical elongated member is slidingly arranged along the horizontal member fastened to the wall. The verical member is provided with a plurality of notches into which the picture hanging wire may be inserted. Selection of the notches into which the picture hanging wire is inserted, allows varying the position of the picture along the vertical direction on the wall, whereas sliding of the vertical member along the horizontal member allows varying of the picture position along the horizontal direction on the wall.
