Solutions pertaining to enhanced support for transmit-receive (Tx-Rx) gap in non-terrestrial network (NTN) communications are proposed. An apparatus implemented in a UE receives from a non-terrestrial (NT) network node of a network an uplink (UL) grant or a configuration that schedules an UL transmission (Tx). The apparatus performs the UL transmission to the NT network node within a transmit-receive (Tx-Rx) transition gap during which no downlink (DL) Tx from the NT network node is expected. The Tx-Rx transition gap includes an UL Tx duration, a pre-UL Tx gap (Gap_start) before a starting time of the UL Tx duration (t_start), and a post-UL Tx gap (Gap_end) after an ending time of the UL Tx duration (t_end). A starting timing of the Tx-Rx transition gap can be expressed as: t_start−timing advance (TA)−Gap_start. An ending time of the Tx-Rx transition gap can be expressed as: t_end−TA+Gap_end.

Enhanced support for transmit-receive transition gap in non-terrestrial network communications

Provided is an apparatus for transmitting a circularly polarized signal by linearly polarized antennas. A horizontally polarized antenna and a vertically polarized antenna of the apparatus receives a first circularly polarized signal transmitted based on a transmitted baseband signal vector. Based on the first circularly polarized signal, a radio frequency (RF) module of the apparatus generates a received baseband signal vector including a product of the transmitted baseband signal vector and a receiving polarization vector of the transmitted baseband signal vector. Processing circuitry of the apparatus estimates the receiving polarization vector based on the received baseband signal vector and calibrates power amplifiers (PAs) and local oscillator (LO) signals of frequency converters in the RF module based on the estimated receiving polarization vector. The horizontally and vertically polarized antennas transmit a second circularly polarized signal based on the calibrated PAs and the calibrated LO signals of the frequency converters.

Transmitting or receiving circularly polarized signals by linearly polarized antennas

Aspects of the disclosure provide an apparatus for receiving a circularly polarized signal by linearly polarized antennas. A horizontally polarized antenna and a vertically polarized antenna of the apparatus receive a circularly polarized signal that is transmitted based on a transmitted baseband signal vector. A radio frequency (RF) module of the apparatus generates a first baseband signal vector based on the received circularly polarized signal. The first baseband signal vector includes a product of the transmitted baseband signal vector and a receiving polarization vector of the transmitted baseband signal vector. Processing circuitry of the apparatus estimates the receiving polarization vector of the transmitted baseband signal vector based on the first baseband signal vector. The processing circuitry derives a second baseband signal vector based on the estimated receiving polarization vector and the first baseband signal vector.

The present disclosure proposes schemes, techniques, designs and methods pertaining to timing handling for integration of terrestrial network (TN) and non-terrestrial network (NTN) communications. Communications between a user equipment (UE) and a TN node and communications between the UE and an NTN node are established. The UE compensates for a first propagation delay in the communications between the UE and the NTN node, and the UE is able to obtain a second propagation delay between the UE and the NTN node.

Methods and apparatus of timing handling for integration of terrestrial network and non-terrestrial network communications

A User Equipment (UE) including a wireless transceiver and a controller is provided. The wireless transceiver performs wireless transmission and reception to and from a first service network utilizing a first RAT or a second service network utilizing a second RAT. The controller sends an indicator of a connection release request to the first service network via the wireless transceiver in response to terminating a first communication service with the first service network or in response to leaving the first service network for the second service network. Also, the controller releases a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection with the first service network after sending the indicator of the connection release request.

Apparatuses and methods for multi-radio access technology (RAT) coordination

Various examples and schemes pertaining to enhanced cell selection mechanisms in mobile communications are described. A user equipment (UE) performs a cell selection or reselection procedure to select a cell of a wireless network and establishes a wireless connection with the selected cell. In performing the cell selection or reselection procedure, the UE determines a frequency band and a subcarrier spacing (SCS) configuration by checking a profile, and the UE performs the cell selection or reselection procedure in the frequency band based on the SCS configuration.

Enhanced cell selection mechanisms in mobile communications

A method of multi-radio interworking to provide integrated cellular and WLAN access for a multi-radio device is provided. A serving base station in a cellular network first obtains wireless local area network (WLAN) information and then forward the WLAN information to a serving device such that the serving device is capable to connect with both the cellular network and a WLAN. The WLAN information may comprise scanning information, WLAN QoS information, WLAN layer-3 information, or additional WLAN access point information. The WLAN information is forwarded based on triggering events associated with the serving base station information, WLAN coverage information, or the serving device information. Based on the received WLAN information, when entering WLAN coverage, the serving device activates its WLAN access to forward traffic from the cellular access network to the WLAN access network. When leaving WLAN coverage, the serving device deactivates its WLAN access to save power consumption.

Method of multi-radio interworking in heterogeneous wireless communication networks

Apparatus and methods are provided for sim-less subscription mechanism for mobile cellular networks. In novel aspect, the mobile device supporting the e-SIM is provisioned with the assistance the UE by obtaining subscription information from the UE. In one embodiment, UE retrieves an ID from the mobile device. The UE sends a subscription request to the e-SIM platform, wherein the subscription request includes information of the retrieved ID of the mobile device and the subscription information of the UE. In another embodiment, the mobile device retrieves subscription information from the UE. The mobile device sends a subscription request to the e-SIM platform, wherein the subscription request includes information of the subscription information retrieved from the UE and the ID of the mobile device. The mobile device receives a subscription response from the e-SIM platform and enables the mobile device through mobile device's e-SIM based on the subscription response.

Method of SIM-less subscription mechanism for mobile cellular networks

Methods and apparatus are provided for paging transmission and reception for UEs requiring coverage extension/coverage enhancement. In one novel aspect, the UE reports the CE status to the MME. CE level related information and the corresponding cell ID are provided from eNB to MME. MME sends paging information including the repetition number to all eNBs in the corresponding tracking area when paging the UE. In another novel aspect, a paging area is used for CE UEs. The UE receives paging area information, notifies the network, and updates the stored paging area information upon detecting changes between the received and the stored paging areas. In another embodiment, the UE reports its CE status upon detecting CE status changes. The eNB stores UE CE information and forwards it to neighboring eNBs in the same paging area. The eNB pages UEs on its CE UE list with repetition while paging other UEs normally.

Optimized mechanism for paging transmission and reception

Methods and apparatus are provided contention based uplink data transmission. In one novel aspect, the contention-based uplink data channel is used to transmit the data directly to the network. In one embodiment, the UE selects an UL data channel from a set of preconfigured uplink contention based data channels and sends the UL data transmission on the selected UL data channel. In one embodiment, the contention based UL data has a narrow bandwidth with a long CP such that the TA is not needed from the base station. In another embodiment, a small signaling payload is included in the CB UL data transmission if the size of the data contents cannot be fit in the UL data channel. In one embodiment, the signaling payload is the BSR. The UE, subsequently, receives an UL grant and sends the remaining data contents using the allocated data channel in the UL grant.

Uplink contention based multiple access for cellular IoT

This invention proposes efficient data transmission methods in the mobile cellular network. A specific resource pool is divided into several resource groups to indicate the size level of the data available for transmission. The base station allocates a proper UL grant to the terminal. Based on the allocated UL grant, the terminal compares the granted Transport Block (TB) size with the size of data available for transmission. If the UL grant is large enough, the terminal transmits the data available for transmission in the allocated UL resource, otherwise, re-attempts the random access procedure. In another example, the terminal transmits a BSR message and as much of the data as is available for transmission. The base station may grant additional UL resources if there is remaining data to be transmitted. A timer is used for the terminal to decide whether waiting for the additional UL grant from the base station.

Apparatus for data transmission method

The invention provides a mobile communication device having a first wireless communication module with a strong driving circuit, and a second wireless communication module with a weak driving circuit. The first wireless communication module is coupled to the second wireless communication module via only one wire. The first wireless communication module sends a first traffic pattern of a first wireless transceiving to the second wireless communication module via the wire, and receives a second traffic of a second wireless transceiving from the second wireless communication module via the wire. The second traffic pattern indicates whether the second wireless communication module decides to use a remaining period of time, in which the first wireless communication module is not required to perform wireless transceiving, for the second wireless transceiving.

Apparatuses and methods for coordination between plurality of co-located wireless communication modules via one wire

A method of data transmission over guard sub-carriers is provided in a multi-carrier OFDM system. Adjacent radio frequency (RF) carriers are used to carry radio signals transmitted through adjacent frequency channels. A plurality of guard sub-carriers between adjacent frequency channels are aligned and identified for data transmission in a pre-defined physical resource unit. The identified guard sub-carriers do not overlap with normal data sub-carriers of the radio signals transmitted through the adjacent frequency channels. At least one of the identified guard sub-carriers is reserved as NULL sub-carrier. A flexible multi-carrier transceiver architecture is also provided in a multi-carrier OFDM system. Different multi-carrier and/or MIMO/SISO data transmission schemes are implemented by adaptively reconfigure same hardware modules including common MAC layer module, physical layer entities, and RF entities. Furthermore, the flexible multi-carrier transceiver architecture can be used to support data transmission over guard sub-carriers.
