A planetary gear set having a planet shaft that extends from a planet gear carrier into a hole in a planet gear. At least one set of bearing rollers may be received inside the hole and may rotatably support the planet gear on the planet shaft. A first shaft thrust washer may extend between the planet gear carrier and a set of bearing rollers.

Planetary gear set

A differential assembly having a case and a ring gear. The ring gear is mounted to the case and may include a mounting flange and a set of teeth. The mounting flange may have a fastener hole. The set of teeth overhangs the fastener hole such that the set of teeth extend further toward the axis than at least a portion of the fastener hole.

A snap ring may inhibit axial movement of the washer with respect to the sun gear. Differential locking mechanism for a drive axle assembly

A wheel end assembly having a dual wheel configuration includes independently rotating wheel hubs to reduce tire wear. Each wheel hub is supported on an axle spindle via a bearing member. Another bearing member is mounted between the wheel hubs to allow each wheel hub to rotate independently from the other. A fastening assembly retains the hubs on the spindle to prevent linear movement along the spindle.

Independently rotating wheels

A wheelend end assembly for a vehicle includes a support structure such as an axle housing. A spindle is secured to the support structure preferably by fasteners. The spindle has a generally centrally located bore receiving an output shaft that is rotatable relative to the spindle about an axis. A planetary gear set is coupled to the output shaft. A wheel hub is arranged about the outside of the spindle and is supported thereon by first and second bearings. A retainer, which may include a nut and lock washer, is secured to a threaded end of the spindle adjacent to the outer bearing for axially positioning the bearings relative to the spindle to retain the wheel hub on the spindle. Wheels are secured to a mounting flange on the wheel hub. The wheels define a track centerline that is preferably located between the bearings.

Planetary wheelend

A hollow pinion gear is used in combination with a through shaft to provide coaxial power transfer from one location in a driveline to another location in the driveline. The pinion gear includes a shaft portion with a longitudinally extending bore that receives the through shaft and includes an integrally formed pinion gear head at one end of the shaft portion. A bearing member is installed within the bore between the through shaft and the pinion shaft portion. The bearing member permits relative rotation between the pinion gear and the through shaft.
