An information handling system presents visual images at a display through a scalar that adjusts the visual images with a gamma lookup table selected from plural gamma lookup tables based upon a refresh rate of the display. As a graphics processor commands variable refresh rates, a blanking period is used to adjust the refresh rates and a gamma lookup table selection is applied during the blanking period to encourage uniform luminance. Each gamma lookup table is stored in a separate SRAM and input to a multiplexor that uses the refresh rate to select which gamma adjusted visual image is presented at the display.

Adaptive gamma control to suppress variable refresh rate flicker

A monitor includes a timing controller coupled to a liquid crystal display panel. A scaler unit receives a change event notification associated with a change to a new overdrive setting of the liquid crystal display panel, and determines a set of lookup table values associated with the change to the new overdrive setting of the liquid crystal display panel. The scaler unit determines a size of data to be transmitted based on the set of lookup table values, and divides the data to be transmitted into data portions based on factors that include the size of the data to be transmitted, speed of an inter-integrated circuit bus, or length of a vertical blank period. The scaler unit then transmits one of the data portions during the vertical blank period via the inter-integrated circuit bus.

System and method for overdrive setting control on a liquid crystal display

A uniform bezel display uses off-axis illumination from within a rear cavity to direct light into a backlight that distributes the light to a liquid crystal display panel. A light source, such as plural LEDs interfaced with a circuit board, is disposed on a beveled surface formed in the cavity and aligned to direct light into a reflective surface of the backlight interior. Offset placement of the light source in a cavity of the display housing reduces the footprint of the light source at the side of the housing perimeter so that a uniform width bezel will cover the LCD panel around the housing perimeter.

An information handling system peripheral display provides backlight to a liquid crystal display panel through a light guide plate with illumination from a light emitting diode package having plural evenly spaced light emitting diodes disposed in a spaced relationship along one side of the light guide plate. For insert molded coupling devices, a midframe structure integrates spacers at opposing ends of the bottom side of the light guide plate to maintain the spaced relationship without any additional intervening structures between the light emitting diode package and light guide plate along the bottom side between the opposing ends.
