A display device includes a display panel including a pixel which receives a driving voltage through a first voltage line, a voltage generator which provides the driving voltage which has a first voltage level to the first voltage line and determines a voltage level of the driving voltage based on a voltage control signal, a current sensor which senses a current level of the first voltage line and outputs a current signal corresponding to the sensed current level, and an overcurrent controller which outputs the voltage control signal which changes the voltage level of the driving voltage when a difference value between present and previous current levels of the current signal is a reference value or greater. The voltage level of the driving voltage changes to a second voltage level lower than the first voltage level when the difference value is the reference value or greater.

Display device

A display device includes a display panel which is driven in a mode selected from among a plurality of modes including different luminance values, a voltage generator which generates a driving voltage, a resistor connected to an output terminal, from which the driving voltage is output, a current sensing unit connected in parallel to the resistor, where the current sensing unit measures a voltage value across both ends of the resistor and calculates a driving current value using a resistance value of the resistor and a measured voltage value, and a maximum current calculating unit which calculates a maximum measured current value corresponding a the luminance value of a selected mode and outputs a selection signal corresponding to the maximum measured current value, and the current sensing unit sets a maximum measured voltage value corresponding to the maximum measured current value in response to the selection signal.

Display device and driving method thereof

A method of operating a display apparatus includes the following steps: calculating a first color reference luminance ratio, a second color reference luminance ratio, and a third color reference luminance ratio for a reference grayscale value; calculating first color target luminance ratios, second color target luminance ratios, and third color target luminance ratios for adjustment target grayscale values; generating first adjustment values, second adjustment values, and third adjustment values based on the first, second, and third color reference luminance ratios and the first, second, and third color target luminance ratios; performing gamma conversions of first, second and third colors using the first, second, and third adjustment values for the adjustment target grayscale values; using results of the gamma conversions to generate data voltages; and using the data voltage and a display panel of the display apparatus to emit or transmit light for displaying an image.

Method of driving display panel and display apparatus for performing the same

A display device is disclosed that includes a display panel, a first source circuit board, a second source circuit board, and a control circuit board. The first source circuit board is configured to output a first feedback voltage corresponding to a first driving voltage. The second source circuit board is configured to output a second feedback voltage corresponding to the second driving voltage. The control circuit board is configured to supply the first and second driving voltages to the first and second source circuit boards, respectively, and receive the first and second feedback voltages from the first and second source circuit boards, respectively. The control circuit board includes a comparison unit configured to compare the first and second feedback voltages with a preset reference voltage and generate a result signal in response to a comparison result, and a generation unit configured to generate a protection signal for activating a protection mode for protecting the display panel based on the result signal.
