An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a connector including one or more signal terminals for communication with an external electronic device, at least one processor operatively connected to the connector, and a memory operatively connected to the processor, the memory stores instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to identify a connection to the external electronic device through the connector, receive one or more pieces of information about power that is supported by the external electronic device from the external electronic device in the connection to the external electronic device through the connector, and identify the external electronic device, based on a part of the one or more pieces of power information. Method of identifying external electronic device based on power information and electronic device and storage medium for supporting same

An electronic device for connecting with external devices and an operating method thereof are provided. The electronic device includes a communication interface, and at least one processor. The processor is configured to attempt a connection with a second external device through the communication interface, based at least on group device information of a first external device connected to the electronic device, and connect with a third external device through the communication interface, based at least on a failure of connection with the second external device, and refine the group device information of the first external device, based at least on information of the connected third external device.
