Provided is a vehicle steering column. A lower column has an open area, an axial slot provided in a central portion of the open area, a connecting portion connecting portions of the lower column located on both sides of the open area, a cut portion corresponding to the slot and provided on one side of the connecting portion, and a pair of protruding opposite end portions. A hinge pin is fitted into the opposite end portions of the lower column. An upper column is fitted into the lower column. A telescopic fixing plate of the upper column is provided in a location corresponding to the slot, and has a plurality of catch recesses spaced apart from each other. A telescopic catch member is located in the cut portion between the opposite end portions to be rotatably supported by the hinge pin, and has a catch protrusion engaging with the catch recesses.

The present embodiments provide a tilt fixing device for a vehicular steering column wherein no tooth-on-tooth phenomenon occurs between a stationary gear and a movable gear when the driver conducts a tilt locking operation; even if such a tooth-on-tooth phenomenon occurs, a first elastic member installed between the movable gear and a load support member enables tilt locking of the steering column; and, if an external impact is applied, the movable gear slides and meshes with the stationary gear by means of elastic force from the first elastic member such that there occurs a stable tilting operation of the steering column.

The present disclosure provides a steering column of a vehicle, the steering column including: an inner tube; a fixed block disposed on the outer side of the inner tube in the axial direction of the steering column and having a plurality of fastening holes arranged in the axial direction of the steering column; an outer tube fitted on the outer side of the inner tube such that the inner tube can be moved in the axial direction of the steering column, and having distance portions disposed at both sides of the fixed block and having a first bolt hole; a movable block fastened to the fixed block and having a second bolt hole; a lever bolt disposed through the first bolt hole and the second bolt hole; and an elastic member coupled to the outer side of an end of the lever bolt and having both ends supported by the movable block and the distance portions and elastically supporting the movable block toward the fixed block.
