The present invention relates to a radioactive electron emitting microchannel plate. More particularly, to a radioactive electron generating microchannel plate comprising (a) a pair of parallel substrates; (b) at least one radioactive material layer deposited on an inner surface of the substrates; and (c) at least one electron ray-amplifying layer deposited on the surface of the radioactive material layer. The emitted electron ray is amplified by penetrating into the cavity formed by a pair of parallel substrates and is further amplified by reflecting from the electron ray-amplifying layer. As the substrate in the microchannel plate, use can be made of a capillary tube or a thin plate. The microchannel plate of the present invention can be applied as an electron ray source in an electron ray-generating device, an image display device, and electron ray-etching device.

A remote-controlled mobile cleaning device for removal and collection of high radioactive waste debris in a spent nuclear fuel process and fabrication area, such as a hot-cell, is disclosed. The device includes navigation means for moving it to the desired cleaning location and climbing over such obstacles as electrical cables and pneumatic tubes placed on the hot-cell floor to be cleaned, suction and collection means for dislodging, filtering, and capturing high radioactive waste debris, and cover means for protecting suction and collection means. The device that is operated by remote control cleans and collects loose dry spent nuclear fuel powder and other high-radioactive waste debris adhered to both the contaminated in-cell floor and the in-cell spent nuclear fuel process and fabrication equipment, without spreading inside the hot-cell.

A centrifugal extractor for extraction of an organic phase from a liquid mixture, such as liquid radioactive wastes, is disclosed. In the centrifugal extractor, both the separating weir and the divert disk are designed to be adjustable in their vertical positions. The extractor, thus, desirably separates the organic phase, including usable elements in addition to chemically toxic high radioactive elements, from the aqueous phase and desirably controls the reaction time of the two phases regardless of a variation of the mixing ratio and the rotational speed of the two phases. In the centrifugal extractor, a liquid suction and rotation unit sucks and rotates the liquid mixture and separates the organic phase from the aqueous phase while controlling the reaction time of the two phases. A height-adjustable separation weir unit is designed to locate the separating weir at a boundary layer between the two separated phases. A housing unit supports the suction and rotation unit and provides the path of two separated phases to the outside of the extractor.

A method for manufacturing a gas mask canister using a HEPA filter media having plastic separating plates inserted into between HEPA filter media at certain intervals. The HEPA filter, impregnated activated carbon, and a pre-filter are accommodated within a cylinder. The cylinder is inserted into a canister having an upper portion and a lower portion detachably coupled together. The impregnated activated carbon, the plastic separating plates and the casing of the canister can be reused, and the rest of elements are burned. A vinyl coating sheet is peeled off from the canister after each use. An indexing tab for recording the number of times of peeling is attached on each of vinyl coated sheets, so that the number of uses can be known.

A wet recycling method for impregnated active carbon used to remove radioactive organic iodide in a nuclear power plant by extracting impregnated substance and radioactive organic iodide from the used impregnated active carbon with an acetonitrile solution and reproducing active carbon to be used in preparing impregnated active carbon, the filtered extractive solution being distilled to obtain pure acetonitrile for the use purpose as an extractive solution, the impregnated substance and radioactive organic iodide extracted in a small amount of solid, thus reducing the volume of the waste impregnated active carbon greatly to decrease solid waste material and at the same time recycle materials.

Disclosed is a fiber bundle contactor in which fibers are packed in high density within a column. When two liquid phases flowing in parallel, one of which contains the desired components, are contacted with the entryway of the highly packed fiber bundle, the two liquid phases are very thinly dispersed among gaps around the respective fibers by capillary action induced by the clearance between the fibers. By means of this capillary action, the two liquid phases are maintained as a continuous stream, and the two phases are brought into very intimate contact, thereby ensuring a very large surface area for liquid-liquid extraction to proceed.

A swing angle measuring apparatus generates feedback signals for closed loop regulation of a load swinging motion in operation of a crane. The swing angle measuring apparatus measures two-dimensional swing angles, and includes a rope fixed to a hoisting device, two laser displacement sensors, laser reflecting plates, and a rectangular box attached to a hoisting device. Two steel reflecting plates are installed on the periphery of the fixed rope. Two laser displacement sensors are installed in a rectangular box such that the heading of the sensors are configured to perpendicularly intersect the faces of the laser reflecting plates. The configuration of the displacement sensors and the reflecting plates can be reversed. The rectangular box is attached to the hoisting device, and the laser reflecting plates are placed at an offset distance away from the face of the laser displacement sensors, at which a sensor signal of 0 volts is obtained. The swing angle of the rope or cable is determined from the distance between the laser displacement sensors and the laser reflecting plates.
