A wireless packet data system efficiently manages a location of a packet call in a radio environment. A mobile station transmits a location registration message to a target BSC when moving to the target BSC adjacent to a source BSC. Upon receipt of the location registration message, the target BSC transmits a location update message for updating a location of the mobile station to a centralized database. Upon receipt of the location update message, the centralized database updates dormant state information for the mobile station to connect the target BSC to the source BSC. The centralized database transmits a location update result message indicating complete update of the dormant state information to the target BSC.

The multiplex frames each are comprised of a header and a succeeding RLP frame, and the RLP frame includes transmission data. At least one of the multiplex frames is comprised of a plurality of sub-multiplex frames, and each sub-multiplex frame is comprised of a header including an RLP service identifier field and a length indication field for indicating a length of the transmission data, and a data block associated to the succeeding RLP frame.

Apparatus and method for exchanging variable-length data according to radio link protocol in mobile communication system

There is disclosed a method for performing channel assignment in a base station for a mobile communication system. Upon receipt of a request for assigning a channel to a mobile station, a base station transceiver system (BTS) generates a connect message including channel information, which indicates a Walsh code, out of 256 Walsh codes, to be used for a channel to be assigned to the mobile station, and a quasi-orthogonal function (QOF) index. The BTS transmits the generated connect message to a base station controller (BSC). The BSC generates a connect ACK message for acknowledging the channel assignment-related information included in the connect message and transmits the generated connect ACK message to the BTS. Upon receipt of the connect ACK message, in the BTS assigns the channel that was acknowledged by the BSC to the mobile station.

In a bulk connection switch, during the charge transfer period the high voltage generation terminal is connected to the bulk of the charge transmission transistor and during the charge non-transfer period the bulk is connected to the low voltage, being lower than that of the voltage appearing at the boosting node of the charge transmission transistor or the high voltage generation terminal. Charge transmission efficiency and pumping operation reliability are improved, increasing the reliability of data access operations in a semiconductor memory device, for example.

A method of establishing a supplemental channel (SCH) to provide burst timing for high-speed data transmission in a mobile communication system is disclosed. In the SCH establishing method, a source base station transceiver determines that a traffic burst exists and sends a target base station transceiver a burst request message. The burst request message includes forward and reverse burst timing information and channel use time information, which is determined in consideration of a discontinuous transmission (DTX) mode, in order to reserve necessary resources, when a large amount of high rate data is to be transmitted. A method of designating a channel to be dedicated between a base station and a mobile station in a CDMA communication system. The base station generates designation information including a common channel designation indicator, the address of a common power control channel, transmission rate, and action time and transmits a message with the designation information to the mobile station. Then, the mobile station receives the message with the designation information and transmits a response message for the received message to the base station on a designated channel indicated by the designated channel indicator with transmission power set by the common power control channel at the data rate at the action time.

Apparatus and method for designating a reverse common channel for dedicated communication in a mobile communication system

A method for transmitting a signal from a base station transceiver system (BTS) to a base station controller (BSC) when there is no data transmitted from a mobile station while in discontinuous transmission (DTX) mode, in a mobile communication system. Upon detection of the discontinuous transmission mode, it is determined what type of frame was last transmitted from the mobile station, and the present power control information is set according to the type of frame. Thereafter, the base station transceiver system transmits a reverse message including the present power control information to the base station controller over a dedicated control channel. A method for determining a gating rate in a base station for a CDMA communication system is disclosed. The method comprises transmitting information for assigning a dedicated control channel and a traffic channel to a mobile station, when a call is generated; after call setup, transmitting a message requesting mobile station's capability information to the mobile station; receiving the capability information including gating availability information of a reverse pilot signal and information about at least one gating rate, transmitted from the mobile station in reply to the request message; and determining a gating rate according to the capability information, transmitting information about the determined gating rate to the mobile station, and transitioning to an active sate. The mobile station's capability information includes information about gating availability and at least one gating rate, when gating is available.

Apparatus and method for transmitting variable-length data according to a radio link protocol in a mobile communication system

A data transmission method in a mobile communication system is provided for transmitting user data via a common channel when the user data is generated in a suspended state. In a first embodiment, the method includes comparing a length of the generated data with a reference length for normal data transmission in an active state. When the generated data is shorter than the reference length, a generation frequency of the data generated in the suspended state is compared with a reference generation frequency for normal data transmission in the active state. If the generation frequency of the data generated in the suspended state is lower than the reference generation frequency, a transition to a burst substate occurs to segment the data by a frame length of a common traffic channel and then the segmented data is transmitted via the common traffic channel. However, if a burst substate does not exist, the segmented data is transmitted via a previously assigned common traffic channel. In a second embodiment, the method includes, when data to be transmitted is generated in a suspended state, a transmission party segments the data into frames having a specified length and transmits the segmented data via a previously established common traffic channel. Upon reception of the transmitted segmented frames in the suspended state, a reception party reassembles the received frames and transmits the reassembled frame to an upper layer.
