A mobile device and a touch-based operation method allow a user to easily and conveniently use a desired communication-related function through a touch-sensitive interface. The mobile device displays a scrollable communication-related list that includes but is not limited to a call log list, a message list, a phonebook list, and an email list. When a specific item is selected in response to a first touch event, the mobile device determines whether or not a second touch event occurs on the selected item in a non-scrollable direction. Then the mobile device executes a particular function predefined in the selected item in response to the second touch event occurring in the non-scrollable direction.

A mobile device with a touch panel and a touch-lock operating method thereof are provided. The mobile device preferably includes an RF communication unit for supporting communication services; a touch panel for sensing input touches; a display unit for displaying a screen, where the screen includes at least one of a preset image, text, and map; and a controller for setting a touch-lock in the touch panel according to a preset condition. In the list search method, a plurality of search areas for outputting a plurality of index groups respectively are output in a display area where at least one list is output. The index groups include independent indexes or indexes linked with each other. Such operation occurs without screen switching and thereby enables a mobile terminal to implement a list search quickly and easily.
